Quirks I live with

Occasionally and randomly my car beeps at me and flashes a "Gearbox Overheated" message in the status window on the dash. Dealer looked at it for four hours straight couldn't find anything wrong then suggested I replace the entire computer system to the tune of $4000.00. I live with the quirk. :)7

Sears pressure washer with a 3.8 HP B&S engine - won't start unless you keep the trigger on the wand squeezed open while pulling the starter cord. Didn't used to do it.

Clean out the un-loader/relief valve. You are asking the engine to work against a lot of pressure. and if the valve gets corroded, it will be hard to start, unless you unload the pressure.

I have a new gremlin, just moved into the Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you use the electrical positioning for the right mirror, the whole electrical shibank goes off.

One second you are changing the angle of the mirror and the next second there is no rolling down windows or using remote car key. The fix is to wiggle the right mirror by hand.

What year is your Grand cherokee? my 2004 had a couple of broken wires in the rubber boot between door and body. Known common problem. No mirror issues, but interior lamp and window problems.

As far as quirks go, my whole life is full of them, don't even think about it just learn to deal with it.

That's one reason we don't have to worry about ROBOTS taking over yet, Can't teach jiggling a toilet handle to a DOID.

Opening the door to place a order at the drive thru window. Power Window won't roll down on the old Lincoln. Ken Sweet

Yeah, 2004, I already replaced some of the wires in the door connection.

I can't believe they haven't fixed that problem yet! I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee that had broken rubber boot wires.

I have driven so many old "beater" cars the quirks were many. Like a window that would roll down but had to be pulled up by hand. A beauty at the drive thru.

In the grand scheme though, I'm the quirk that my wife lives with! :confused3:

The choke cable is broken on my riding lawn mower and i just use my fingers to engage it. My 97 Chevy pickup tail gate is broken and i use vise grips that stay permanently attached all the time to open it.

My shop/recreation room has 8 florescent light fixtures; two 4' tubes in each. There are 4 of them on each of 2 light switches. I've replaced all 16 light tubes, both switches, and some of the "tombstone" ends. But they still sometimes come on when you turn the switch on and sometimes don't. Turn a switch on and off a few times and they usually come on. Or maybe just part of them come on, wait a few minutes, and others may, or may not, come on. But after awhile, turning the switch off and back on will probably result in the others coming on. They seem to work more reliably in cold weather than hot weather. And yep, I'd fix'em if I had any idea how to do it, short of just replacing all the fixtures or all the ballasts.

Rub them, it will turn them on. I mean that serously, I'm not being naughty.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about it, but that did work at least once in the past when I tried it. The only trouble is that I have to get the ladder to reach high enough to touch them.

I said it's a known issue, but it wasn't to me at the time. Luckily I have a friend that is a top tech at the local Dodge Jeep dealer. He directed me straight to the problem, otherwise I'd still be scratching my head as it was causing some erratic electrical "quirks". He has saved me a few times now.

Might get a little awkward when guests arrive, "where's Bird?" "Oh he's in the rec room rubbing the lights, trying to turn them on"

I use a broom to rub them but I have knocked a bulb out a time or two. High humidity will keep many of them from lighting.

I thought you needed to touch then with your hand. I do have a couple of brooms handy out there. I'll have to give it a try.

Just sweep the bulbs lightly but quickly because you must excite the electrons to get them to light.

And naturally, recently they've worked flawlessly without any extra effort. I think they like cool weather.
