Have a rental Nissan Altima for a few days while the company car is in the shop...talk about a car with quirks

First- the cruise control buttons are on the horn part of the steering wheel...press a little too hard and you blow the horn, makes for some puzzled looks from other drivers.
And the remote- why can't they leave a car alone, this car has no keys. There is a button on the dash to start the car when the remote is in range of the car. Yesterday I came out of a store and accidently dropped the remote in the parking lot after using it to open the doors...so what if I didn't notice I'd dropped it and it was in range to start to the car allowing me drive off without it? Apparently this remote 2 way communicates with the car and I found it still works to start the car within about 5 to 10 feet of the car.
Then I got in the car once and layed the remote on the console, not thinking about it since it didn't have a key attached to insert in the car. You guessed it, later I got out and locked the remote in the car, since I was out of my usual habit of taking the key out and slipping it in my pocket. Turns out only the drivers door was locked and I found I could open a passenger door, which at the time I was on the phone with the rental company, who was insisting on the rental agreement number...which of course the rental agreement was locked in the car:thumbsup:
I also found you can't open the trunk with the remote while the car is running, say at a quick pullover to get something out of the trunk. Took me awhile to find the
unmarked switch on the lower left of the dash to open the trunk. This also means since the
only way to get in the car or trunk is electrically operated, there may be a key but the rental company didn't give it to me, a dead battery in the remote or car means, you aren't getting in. And if you did get in there is no getting in the trunk to get jumper cables if you had them, since the release is electrical...
:confused2:
