There is a grease fitting on each side of our BX25's BH that once you get the grease gun on it will not come off. The two zerks are also the only ones that are painted on the whole tractor... Does anyone know a remedy for this???

i usually have to unscrew the greasegun nozzle to get it off half of the zerks on my bx25. as stated in some earlier posts you can use a nail to open up the zerks before greasing. still a royal pain in my opinion and it's the only thing i hate about the tractor.

Grease guns are cheap so buy two more. Leave one hang on each of the aggravating BH fittings and use the third to grease the tractor.:D

Lots of mine had paint on them and they will be replaced on warranty even though I was able to scratch it off with a chisel. I have two with the removal problem and I intend to enlarge the access hole until I can get them off by tilting the coupler sidways. Until then, I grab them with vicegrips and pry off with a screwdriver.

if you cant unscrew it to loosen fitting, then its possible you have built up so much pressure trying to pump grease. try moving the joint back and forth . if it doesnt release pressure- my guess is plugged fitting. time to take it off and clean or replace.

I broke two off of mine that way and now use the tip in the attached picture. No issues now.

Thanks everyone! We have this problem every time we grease the two fittings, but the last time it was really hard to get off. I ended up using some WD-40 to get it off...:confused2:

How does that work? Does it fit into the little whole in the center of the zerk? I think we might have one in a kit we got.

If the grease fitting seems bigger in diameter than the rest of them on the tractor, and you dont want to have to keep loosening your grease guns tip, why dont you take a dremel tool with a fine grinding stone to the outer (fat) part of the grease zerk? It would only take a minute, or go buy a new zerk and replace it?

It would seem to me that Kubota would be aware of this zerk issue by now. Greasing the fittings should be a no-brainer on any piece of equipment, not a whole process that involves chipping paint, special tips for the gun etc.

I don't know about that...Might ruin the zerk...

Just push in the tip on the tiny ball and hold pressure against zerk while pumpimg grease.

Same question as you CTF for Deano - just what is that thing and how's it used? Haven't had to grease my backhoe yet since I haven't used it. It's sleeping in my shed until Spring arrives. At least after reading this thread, I'll be on guard for belligerent grease zerks.

CHD, We use them when we need roller bearings pre-greased, they work great for shooting grease to the back of the bearing, just stick the pin thru the rollers, and pump away! Usually leave the zerk tip on the gun hand loose, so it can be changed to the needle tip as needed. Our Fastenal stores supply our area paper mills with this item FYI. take care Joel
