Tractorless :(
Got my 2660 in December, and am looking forward to spring and the grass cutting season. My old JD LT-180 required hosing out after every other cut (~2 acres each).

How do the Kubota decks fare when it comes to clippings building up under the deck?

I don't get any buildup to speak of. Maybe a quart scraped off when I change out the dull blades.
Depends on how wet the grass is, and what other type mowing you do - more than the deck IMO :)

If your previous deck required cleaning, then your new deck will likely require the same. ;)

Ian, Since you bought a belly mower YUCK!!!!!!!
Buy some "Mow Deck" spray to make the deck
non stick and just save your money and buy a
small rear mount flail mower from Ken Sweet.

I do not think any deck will be immune from buildup. Spray with vegtable oil, teflon spray, or add deck wash nozzels.

Washing mid mount deck in pond while attached to tractor is not advised as others have tried as the tractor sinks fast.

We didn't clean ours out at all this year nor did we spray it. There is minimal buildup.

Don't mow when it's wet? Seems to be the cure for any mower I've owned, mid, rear, or otherwise.

There is moisture in the grass even if you are careful to mow in dry conditions. I clean mine 2 to 3 times a season.

Leonz: I know you always push the flail mower. Which flail mower do you own?

I priced a 60" flail mower... Yeesh! Over $2K. Not this fellow. A tiller is much higher on the list and for less money.

hmm you mean compare kubota MMM to the el cheapos tractors? I really dont think there is a difference. Maybe a little- Some cheapo tractors dont have much buildup, others have so much buildup due to shape designed. I would have to say that kubota MMM is on the better side. You still need to scrape it in couple spots, but other wise its pretty good.

Mathews Company Lawn Genie 48" 16 H.P. Briggs and Stratton I/C with a cast iron piston sleeve- they do not make these mowers or engines any more and its a shame too.

I can still get engine parts which is nice as I would have to buy a Briggs Vanguard twin to replace it.

I only clean once a year in the fall, not much to remove. Says it all!

same here not much hangs in there, when I mow when its real wet it will stick but comes right uot the next time I mow. When I remove it in the fall always do a real good cleaning while its sitting on tthe stand wheels.

Sounds interesting. Show pictures please.

I do get a fair amount of buildup, but it doesn't affect performance all that much. I just scrape it off once a year when I remove and sharpen the blades.

I've used my BX2660 for two seasons with the MMM. I only had lots of buildup once and that was after mowing very wet grass. Otherwise its never been a problem mowing less than 2 acres.
