L-2800 Differential Lock question

I searched and didn't see my exact qeustion so here goes. I am not 100% sure how to engage the differentail lock. It appears to me ( and the manual is no help) that you depress the lever with your heel and hold it down? I thought it should engage and stay engaged until I depress the lever again. But it appears to me that it only works while I hold down the lever. Am I missing something?

That is correct..
It is spring loaded to release when it is no longer held and no longer in a bind... KennyV

You got it. Step on it and hold it. You'll sort of feel it slip into place and both rear wheels will be engaged. To release just move your foot and it will pop back up. Note it may interfere with the tractor turning but it's helpful to get unstuck when you lose traction.

Don't use it while you are turning... the rear tires have to be free to turn... How long have you had the tractor?

edit: I see it's a 2010... hopefully the suspension seats work better on the new models... and the other "issues" have been taken care of..

Sometime differential lock maybe hard to engage..rock tractor or short spin of tires than try to engage.

Watch out for 3pt hitch lever,more so if wearing large jacket.

Yes you are right it only engages when you press down the lever with your foot do to the reason that driving with it on isn't the best for the machine.

I agree. Especially if you forgot it and drove out on dry pavement and turned.
