Comparison JD 2305 vs JD 2320

2320 would be nicer smoother ride, because of the larger tires. My 2210 rode so rough in the woods, because of the pee-wee tires. The 2520 is like a Caddy compared to a Geo Metro! :laughing:

get the 2320. I havent used either of them, but i have used several 2210's and a 4100 gear. The 4100 had so much more "tractor" to it over the 2210's that i prefered it over the 2210's. Sadly, the 4100 was in a barn fire and was destroyed. Now replaced by a BX24, There is a huge difference in the capabilities between the 2. Yes the 2305 has a lower stance but that limits you in a lot of ways. You cant lift implements as high (auger, boxblade, tiller, etc), lower clearance means less running on uneven ground with deep ruts. The 2320 sits higher, lifts implements higher, has more 3 point lift capacity, larger tires for better ride, larger frame which makes the 2320 more "heavy duty" than the 2305. Also, you gain foldable ROPS for low clearance garage doors and getting under trees for mowing.

I've owned a 2305 for three years and can now better understand why the 2320 is a better deal long term. The hydraulics are better, the ROPs is collapsible, you have position control for things like box blade, and other rear implements. The 2305 has a limited cat. 1 hitch, meaning you will have a bit of trouble now and again with getting implements on and off the rear hitch. The 2320 is heavier, and a bit more stable than the 2305. I had no experience with tractors when I purchased the 2305, but I now better appreciate why the 2320 is more expensive, but worth every penny extra.

I just invested in a "D" mid mount mower for my 2320 so as to have two mowing machines, and that little thing mows great. It is also something my elderly dad can use if I am unable to help him. I will say if anyone is in doubt, go for the 2320 over the 2305. I even would say go for the 2320 over an X series for mowing duties, and I have had several of them as well. It is also a great mowing little tractor. My dream is to have a 1500 series front cut mower, maybe one day. I also have a 950 ZTR that I can haul around when mowing better than the 2320. It is a great mowing ZTR, but I am not enthused that much with the ZTR concept.

Why would you say mow with a 2000 series over a X series?

Just back from the dealer about a new mower, the X749 sells for about the same as the 2320. The two are different animals though and I am still looking at the X749 for now. If choosing between the 2305 and the 2320 I think the latter is the hands down winner.

My X475 is hands down a better mower than my 2210 was, so if you want a mower, the X series is awesome.

I hope the X749 is the ticket for my mowing and pine needle raking. This should also run my small 3pt chipper for what its worth.

I believe we would have been better off with a X749 if it was not for the ROPS.

the 2305 meets my needs best. i wanted a lower stance than the 2320. the x749 seemed too much like a large garden tractor.
