I have seen some really slick ways to refuel on this forum but I am looking for the easiest and cheapest to be able to leave the can on the floorboard of the tractor. Somehow I manage to spill more using those stupid EPA "No Spill" spouts and they restrict flow - I can pee faster then the deisel comes out.

Any takers?

Thanks!!!:)

Nothing short of buying the over sized splash stop funnels(the really large plastic ones) and using these cans by pulling on the filler(if it is spring retained) to hold it open, no.

I had a good smart allic idea right up until I read "cheapest".

The best idea I've seen yet consisted of a small fuel tank on a stand and a pump. I'm toying with the idea of building a small portable refueling station (25-50 gallons) which can be put into the back of the pickup to take to the station and refill. The rest of the time it would have a home in the shop where it can refuel the tractor easily. Not sure yet whether to use a 12 volt or 110 volt pump. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Not trying to hijack the thread but 12 volt fuel pumps and tanks are available for trucks and the L shaped ones will fit under a truck tool box

I use a Jaz 14" triangular funnel designed as a way to fast fuel race cars. I cut the long spout to the correct length for a BX. The largest top portion of the flanged spout sizes perfectly to a Kubota fuel port. I also use the optional filter. You just take that whole spout off the can. The top lip on the funnel prevents fuel from sploshing over the top of the funnel on the opposite side. To prevent contaminants from getting into the fuel, I keep the funnel wrapped inside a 55 gal. plastic bag and on a shelf in the garage when not in use to prevent dust from accumulating on the funnel. With the air vent popped open at the top end opposite the pour hole, I can fuel the BX in about 10 sec. without spillage of fuel. This link will place you right at my funnel, however you can scroll up and down the same page to see their other funnels.

Another possibility is this little portable fuel station from Blitz. Other of their caddies have to be pumped. They can also be so big that once you get them to the gas station in a pickup, they are sooo heavy to unload. I like how you just elevate this one and allow it to gravity feed. It also is not as heavy as the wheeled caddies and costs much less.

Blitz 15-Gallon Professional Fuel Station™, Model# 11055 | Fuel Caddies | Northern Tool + Equipment

Most of my neighbors have a fuel storage tank on an elevated stand and have the local supplier deliver more whenever needed. I have seen tanks smaller than this one, down to 100 gal. TSC may also carry similar items.

I have seen others use an auxillary transfer tank from the back of their diesel pickup:

Auxiliary-Transfer Tanks | Fuel Transfer + Storage | Fuel Transfer + Lubrication | Northern Tool + Equipment

I have been toying with the idea of a crane like boom that will quick attach to my ROPS. It would allow me to hang a 5 gal. diesel can from the end of the boom and tilt it over, sans spout, and pour into my Jaz funnel with little effort.

I use the ones I sell at my store, they work great. They are push button style safty cans that don't spill and drain fast. I keep 3 on my truck for refueling.

Does your store have a web-site?

I am using a 12 volt inline fuel pump, its about 5 gal a minute. plus 2 pieces of 3/8 fuel line. Alligator clips to the battery connection. Beats pouring and sloshing fuel from 5 gal can. but I am looking for something better if i see it. JY.

I get my son to refuel it and he does a pretty good job :)

I replaced the "no spill" spout with a real spout.

I bought one of those cans with the button you push then you squeeze a lever.. it stinks.

The only cans I have ever had a good spout on was the old metal cans with the articulated metal spouts.

At least the lever spouts dont leak at all the joints like the ones that slide back when inserted in the tank opening. I actually link the way the lever type work in allowing me to get the spount into the tank opening without pouring fuels everywhere. I just wish there was a lever lock on them to keep them open when pouring. The idea of cutting out the plastic spring to let them stay open defeats the purpose of the spout and mean I may forget to or be unable to close it down when finished pouring.

Ummm.........

RT, that's a water pump. Not sure I'd try running fuel through it.:ashamed:

really?
well one of the reviewers said:

Not bad actually, July 20, 2009 By Sethfdabomb from carver, ma(read all my reviews)

Additional information about Sethfdabomb could not be loaded. "This product doesn't seem to get really good reviews. From my standpoint, what you pay for this makes it worth it. Its not really expensive and seems to pump really well. When I fill up with diesel (what i use it for) It plugs right into the 12v outlet in my trunk. So its very convenient and it does what I need it too. What I use it for is to transfer BIO diesel to my jetta from a tank I have in my garage. Having this little 12v pump ensures I never need to plug in. Its great for what it is. After all im trying to save money with Bio, not spend a lot on getting it into my car."

Just because one of the reviewers said he uses it to pump fuel does not somehow magically change it from a water pump to a fuel pump. There are a lot of people in the world who do not think very clearly. These are not the people whom you want to copy.

That was sarcasm....... I apologize for not doing the geek effect:
