I was gonna try and sneak up a notch in tractor size but maybe I should keep it at approx 2000lbs and mmm capable. I don't plan on mowing in the rain but it would be a waste for me to spend money on a mowing machine that couldn't get around in a little water at least. If Deere wins out then that would mean 1 of the 2000 series. (I think)

When mowing with the Kubota at the home property, I always remove the FEL. It removes some weight and makes it easier to get around things and I don't have to worry about hitting the house, a vehicle, etc. The FEL's are very easy to remove from the Kubotas. I assume the same on the JDs, but you should check that out.

I would suggest it is worth checking out the Kubota line for a comparison with the JD, but if you feel more comfortable with the JD tractors, that dealership or you just think you look good wearing a green hat, go for it. As mentioned I have a JD garden tractor and a JD walk behind mower and think they make good products.

Some of the 2000 Series are being replaced with improved machines, I would check to make sure and get one of the upgraded ones as opposed to a left over model.

I agree with KU Gator as while I own more Kubotas than anything else, I still compare other brands before buying. I would look at all of them if there is a decent dealer around.

I actually have a JD mower, it's an X300R - 42"cut. And I just made my 1st cut on the new property with it a couple of days ago. It took approx 6.5 hrs of run time to get it all done. I don't mind the time but I have doubts of how the mower will hold up doing that every week. The X300R is actually designed for bagging and it does that very well. I would hate to kill it by forcing it to do something it was not meant for. Even with a new tractor I will still need the X300R to clean up close to the house. I'm thinkig buy the tractor now and spare the life of the X300R as opposed to killng the 300 and having to buy both a year or two down the road. Does this make any sense to anyone??

The Kubota's are lighter than a John Deere of comparable size. I mow with just the mower on. I take the loader off. The loader is an additional 600#. It's easy to make these tractors heavy. My 1700# Kubota will have 1200# added before snow season. 600# for the loader and 600# for the ballast box.
