How many actually loan tractors or equipment to friends?

Seldom get asked, which i think means i got good friends/neighbors? But if asked, don't mind basic tools or even torches.

BIL has used my tractor and BH. He's to be trusted, good operator. Had one guy ask to use the Bushog, small plot. I went and did it myself. but I did explain he'd have to pay next time.

I do have full coverage on the unit.

I always 'loan' my stuff to "trusted" people, But I very rarely borrow anything.
To explain further....... The people I loan my stuff to, will repair/replace the tool or implement............I don't borrow(much), because ......even though I repair/replace, I just feel bad if anything happens.
The key is..........if you borrow, you pay for repairs..........if you lend, they do likewise.
Hope this helps

P.S. Read flyingcow's post carefully. Same thing I said, but fewer words.

No loaning or renting equipment.

Family may get usage, but normally that means I`m helping anyway.

My BIL told me he can't wait for the day the "Newness" wears off my new TLB so he can borrow it.....

My reply: The "newness" wears off when the last payment is sent....

Basically my power tools (including tractor) come with an operator.....Me..

I do have a neighbor that has a York Rake and I now have the Box Blade, so maybe I'll have to amend my loaning practices......

Nope, but I will "help" with my equipment. I don't borrow either.

Ok, I am from the same form. I actually do let others borrow, but only ones that I trust. I really do not borrow from anyone, usually because I am the one that has waht everyone wants. I also figure if I really need it enought to borrow it, I should probably buy it. I did just let one of my close friends borrow two of my tractors to complete some bush hogging and food plot work down on the hunting property. It's 4 hours away and he blew the clutch in his tractor a couple weeks ago. I helped him split it and we are waiting for parts to put back together. Actually, I was supposed to go this weekend for a work weekend on the hunting property, but my kids are home from college for the weekend and I also thought they picked a bad weekend to schedule everyone to work. I am not too worried about my bud, but his son is a little young and inexperienced and he will be riding the JD 935. I did let them both know, if you break it, you fix it and bring it back the same way it left, clean, intact, functional and full of fluids.

No, all my neighbors and family have tractors, so if someone needs something done we help each other.

Ditto, Very limited number of persons may operate my tractor/ implements and those are me, myself and I.:D Rarely the wife. Family usage normally it means I'm involved anyway

Never. No way. Friends do not ask to borrow. Reciprocal friend does not loan to preserve said friendship.

If I can see a friend in need, I'll offer up to do the work.

I would have to argue this point. I've lived here for 15 years now, and my neighbor has used most everything I own.......and vice-versa..........
I have keys to his house, and he has keys to mine.
I think we have borrowed about everything from each other, except wives......LOL.
But....we trust each other.....and we know the drill as far as borrowing, and loaning.
I should also add...........He is an operator, as am I.

I would never loan out my gear tractors. most the people i know seem to be a magnet to grinding those gears. So if the tractor is gonna be used, i come with it. Only my grandpa and i have driven it since i got the yanmar. With my implements, i will let my neighbor use most any of my implements if they are available since i have them spread throughout 3 locations. He is one of the only people that i will allow to use my implements and still know they will come back just the way they should. I have borrowed his BX24 and prior JD 4100 but not very often, just for loader work and stump removal. I always bring the bota back with a full tank of diesel and grease the FEL and Hoe.

I do loan out my tools/tractor. Loans are only made to people were I get something back (gotta cover wear and tear), can cover damages without hardship, and are close and trusted friends. Which means very few people qualify.

Depends heavily on whose asking. The friend that asked to borrow the excavator to dredge his pond? sure. But only cause he runs the county road crew and is a better operator than anyone I know.

Plus when I need to move cows he's got a shiny new stock trailer. :)7

HECK NO. I did borrow one of my old neighbors Mahindra with a BH and I managed to break it while digging out a stump. I got it fixed and now I borrow my friends equip (rental equipment dealer). I managed to break his stuff too but generally he lets me use it first lol. I was using his brand new RC100 ASV and I managed to bust the hydro lines twice on it with the 4n1 bucket.....
