Tractor
YM226D
I posted about a green YM2000 a few weeks ago, a friend of mine ended up buying it, the tractor is in really good shape and runs well, there are a few things I could use some info on.

First
The rear 3 point was lowering slow, after inspection I found the hydraulic valve on the hydraulic cylinder under the seat, there is a wire wrapped to the lever to push/release the valve, im sure it isn't suppose to be that way, it works but not real effective, I can push the valve in with my finger and it works fine.

I did adjust the lever, etc for the speed of drop on it, looking at the pic you can see what I am referring to, does anyone have a picture of what the linkage under there is suppose to look like?

Second
Does anyone know what the small long bar with rubber end is for, it is below the oil filter on the bottom of the tractor frame, there are slots bolted to the frame to hold it , I thought maybe it was a tool to use to hold the hood open??

Not seeing a bigger pic of the rod, id say hood prop too? And i dont think that is the factory spring, if i remember right mine (spring) is hooked to that jhook right beside the spring. It looks as if the spring is slightly to long to give the correct pressure either from being streached or like i said not the original spring. I ll have to take a pic at home if no one else offers.

Smoody here you go, i remember some posted pics of their under seat set up recently. I went back and found where a guy wanted to find pics of a similar thing, and he then put a link in that thread to the original thread i was referring to. Any way it is the one i am linking to below. Cary posted a pic on the first page of that area and there is a diff pic of under seat i think on the 2nd page.

I was wrong the spring streaches from that rearward bolt to the shaft on the valve or rod. The spring is not right it needs to be longer. My guess is the original was lost or rusted in two?

:D:D Same thing was going on with mine Smoody. That was the correct spring on it in the pic. Clemson referd to. I had to shorten it alittle to keep it from backing off the valve. Also put a adj. screw on lift handle to prevent bit from moving lower past the point you lock it. There was alot of play in my linkage letting it back off and lower. That was almost 3yrs. ago with the Hyd. fluid and new filter/screen haven't had a problem with my lift since

Seconded. (Thirded??? :)) I interpret pic1 as a short spring plus wire substituting for the correct long spring. If it works, I would just leave it. All it does is keep that vertical lever snug against the linkage coming in from the left side.

Pic2, must be a hood prop rod. The later hoods with the hinge at front don't have that rod.

Go back to NAPA and get a # 1064 oil, 2297 air, and 3262 fuel. If your air filter is an original Yanmar, (aluminum frame and fabric filter material), it is re-washable over and over.

Im sorry this thread has been hyjacked but, Norm i did not realize the Yanmar filters were washable! I have one Al frame and filter media in between and has the rubber gasket on it. Do i just wash with a low pressure water flow. Should i oil the filter after? Should i use my filter recharge kit for cleaning and oiling my fram Air Hog filter?

Thanks for the help, does anyone know the correct size spring for it? hoping we could just pick one up local.

/ ?'s about YM2000 (GREEN) #15
id ahve to measure. I relly would keep using what you have if it lifts and dosent leak down. Unless you can pick up one for say under $10 at JD or TSC. Remember some of the older JD like maybe 690 or others are almost identical to ours and may have that same spring, you could search the JD pages for it local.

Why not just order the correct one from a Yanmar parts dealer?

I got an extra that i bought from Hoye when i orded stuff a while back but if i can save it for later by washing it that would be better.

I don't believe Hoye has OEM parts. That one may not be washable. Actually, I have washed mine and atored it away, in case the aftermarket filters ever go away.

Norm, can you post a photo of that washable air filter some time?

I bought a couple of really old unopened Yanmar air filters off Ebay, so old the packaging is green instead of red (1970's??). They seem to be made of fuzzy paper like felt. I wonder if they could be the washable model.

Sorry i did not make myself clear. I have an OE i beleive as its AL framed and has tiny Yanmar bird Y-shaped things stamped in to the frame, this cam e in my tractor. When i purchased some pins, filters and small things i ordered on or Hoyes "aftermarket" filters, which is still in the box AAron sent it to me in and wrapped in plastic. That is a Good i dea about using the aftermarket ones and then storing the OE if it is indeed washable. I will get a pic of it if i remember today.

I just blew mine out with light air this last week as it was dirty, there was a noticible difference in the smoke when loaded up, the smoke got fainter after just a tap and blow out. But it was pretty dirty too, lots of grass seed and dust.
