I have a 2301D,While tilling yesterday the 3-point suddenly quit lifting,The FEL still operates as normal. What should I look for as the problem?
Thanks.

Your stop valve didn't get accidentally closed did it? Does it try to lift at all?

Just had that happen to the ym2500 I had to go check out.Hyd. fluid was leaking at the pump. That was a easy catch because the motor would Bog Down from the pressure on the pump from the valve being shut. When I went to lift the bus hog.

It doesnt try to lift at all.The stop valve is not closed externaly.
I see no leaks,no strange noise.

I'm not sure on your model if its set up like my 2000 or the 2500 but under your seat is the control valve with a plunger in the back of it that is controled by your lift handle pushing the plunger in Lifts it, let it out lowers it.If that is working then losen the HYD.line to it and see if it's pumping fluid to it .Yes Bad Valve. If no then clogged filter or Bad pump. I'm sure you checked the fluid.I'm no expert but should get you close to the problem.

OK, loader is working so we know the pump is putting out. (Tractor pump does operate fel? not a crankshaft driven pump?) If you have fluid going to the control valve, stop valve is open, and all your external linkage is OK you are going to have to dig deeper. Do you have a manual?

I dont know about your tractor but my 3810D has a little blade lever under the seat on a block on top of the trans (to the right of the 3pt shut of knob) that controls the speed the 3pt moves from nothing to full speed you may have bumped yours if its equipt with one.

(it comes with auto draft only I believe but could very easily be wrong)

Also if you have the auto draft option you have another lever on the arms that kicks the 3pt control lever out in order to self control itself, you may have to do a search here for auto draft. If you moved that lever the 3pt wont go up with the main control lever either.

I took the cover off of the control valve. I cant see anything unusual, the shaft that appears to operate the valve has spring tension and moves in and out freely. I have a parts book that shows the valve, but it is in japanese.
The service manual I have is for a 330 and is quite different. Not sure if I want to take control valve apart or not.

Take a pic of the area under your seat and also the back of the tractor paying attention of the right upper arm if you can please that may help identify something to anybody reading this.

I already looked around for pics of your model and was unable to find what I needed. Btw dont take anything apart until you fully can understand all the parts JMHO!

So I mentioned that I removed the control valve cover, everything looked o.k.,the control valve shaft had spring pressure and seemed to operate smoothly. So I reinstalled the cover, and thought I would just try it again before moving to next step. Yep sure enough everything works again,I put the bush hog on and mowed for a couple hours-everything fine.
Now I'm just wondering what happened?

If you have the valve i'm thinking inside the valve the piston or shaft may have been stuck in or to go down.Just a guess. Have you serviced your hyd. fluid and screen lately if not may want to think considering it.Glad you have it going again.

May be some gunk in the system. I would replace fluid and filter and clean screen.

Servicing the hydraulic system sounds like a wise idea. I'll do that and thanks for the input.

I drained the hyd. oil from the bottom of the trans. and pulled the side cover, there is no screen assembly there to service. Shouldn't all models have this? There is no external filter that I see anywhere.

I thought all models have screens. Are there any more covers down low on the transmission housing. Maybe you pulled the wrong one or maybe a former owner did away with it??

I would make sure you are in the right location and if no screen put one in.
