I'm thinking about experimenting with building something for my 3pt. hitch, but when I try to find out if I can buy "toplink side bars",(what I think they are), I can't find anything at Tractor Supply nor Northern Tool; so maybe I'm searching with the wrong name? Does anybody know of a source for these parts?

Thanks,
Ray

I've never seen them sold as an "item", only as parts of another piece of machinery such as a BushHog.

I run a drawbar with a single arm going straight up to the top link.

I don't usually have the weights hanging off it, but the "T" is a very handy tool. It's on there any time an implement isn't.

And no, the high mounted hook is not going to kill me or make my refrigerator stop running, before anyone comments. :)

It might be called " the frame comprising two upright supports " and what I would suggest is find a piece of 3 pt. equipment that has the frame you want and then find out the part # and contact the manufacturer and buy it or else you will probably have to fabricate one or have it done. Probably the only source for this kind of part is an OEM .

I always called it the implements A-frame, But i think its called the
( Coupling Frame )

They'd be dead simple to fabricate if you have access to some raw material. :)

I'm certain those are typically referred to as stabilizer bars/arms

The reason you can't find them, is I keep the market dried up! That is the first piece I tend to bend everytime I back a bush hog into a bunch of woods that I am trying to clear.
As was mentioned, they are easy to build, but need to be done in pairs so that the holes line up between the two. I would also consider building the more durable version which is a piece of plate kind of shaped like a triangle with the same two bends in it. Thinner material, but it does tend to hold up better.

DONOTDELETE posted a picture of his that has this feature.

can you outline the process and cite the materal dimensions and hole sizes?

thanks

Hole size and hitch dimensions can be found at the bottom of the page here:

http://www.tractorsmart.com/main/Tractor Three Point Lift Types.htm

Or just copy an existing implement.

Use 1/4", 5/16" or 3/8" thick (depending on your application) bar stock 3" wide.

As for process I did 'heat and beat' using a sledge and the edge of a concrete block until both sides lined up nicely  I then tacked the two pieces together and drilled the top link hole so it would line up correctly.

Tisco sells an 'A' frame kit that you bolt to your 11-hole cat 1 drawbar... I got one from my dealer for about 20$ a few years ago..

Bush Hog dealers can get them as replacement parts. You may not like the price though. Cutting and drilling the holes is easy if you make your own; bending them is a pain if you don't have a hydraulic press.

Flat bar, heating torch, vise, hammer and drill. Make your own. You may need to get the measurements off another piece of like type equipment if you dont have anything to go by.

If you have a log splitter,it makes a dandy press for bends like this. Just need a V cut into a chunk of 4 X 4.

I was thinking, possibly incorrectly so, in context of a drawbar type stabilizer for which I've seen both type designs marketed.

I for sure wouldn't be torching a set if a real one cost 20$ for the whole deal.
