I just picked up a 1500 D with some sheared gears in the transmission. Does anyone know of any one looking to get rid of a used transmission? The tranny is all apart, I could maybe just replace the broken pieces, but the problem is that I did not take it apart...I got it that way...so re-assembly will be a challenge.

Also, is it possible to replace the current transmission with a power shift?

Thanks

You can try LMTC or Little Miami Tractor Co. He is about as good as it gets esp.for your area. Sound like a very unusual trans. problem I would see what he has to say.

SSB is a discussion forum much like this one. The link Norm posted will take you to where you can email the author (Jerry) of that post.

Also, will a transmission from a 1500 fit a 1500 D?

It might but the 4 wheel drive model has some different parts inside. You may want to go to Hoye's website and look at the diagrams in the catalog. There is a link to Hoye's website at the top of the page.

Greg

Most of the time you will be better off rebuilding your transmission, if you use a YM1500 transmission, the gears that you will have to change out may just be the gears that are bad in your old transmission, so you are no better off. You could buy a YM 1500D transmission, but that won't be cheap. I don't have a YM1500D transmission, but I may have parts to repair yours.

Do I believe you need 4wd. In Ohio NO. Just deepends on what you plan to do with it.I use to live just out of Cinn. The 1500 in Ga. is sounding better might want to check into that and see if it is still available. If you plan on doing it yourself may come out better doing a split or a motor swap. I can make Cinn. in 7hrs. driving easy just something to think about. You will also have alot of spare parts left over that may come in handy one day or sell them to someone who may need them. With all the VN. recons around the area the spare parts may be a hot commodity;)

OK

I was going through the diagrams and the parts I need...but one big problem...

My pinion shaft and gear are NOT like the diagrams I found for a 1500D

The transmission is stamped YM1500D, but my pinion shaft is not held on with a nut and the pinion gear is not machined into the shaft, it is splined and just slips on..

Here is a video of my pinion shaft and gear.

Here is the page with the diagram from Hoye Tractor.

Can someone help?

That is not a YM1500 part. Not only because of the nut & removable pinion gear but because of the design & number of the other gears also. You said you got that already unassembled. Is it possible that someone mixed up the parts from some other tractor?

I think you already called in but we do have a transmission for the "green" style.

BUT.... I dont think a new YM1500 transmission will even help. Your pinion gear cut is all wrong. You said earlier that your pinion gear meshed with your ring gear perfectly. The correct YM1500 pinion gear does not look anything like that (it is spiral cut) and won't mesh with your existing (straight cut) ring gear.

I dont think the parts got mixed up. The pinion shaft is the exact length for the case and the machined shaft is the exact size for the bearings... I would guess that is highly unlikely to find another tractor with those specs.

Also, the pinion gear does mesh very well with the ring gear in the rear end. The tranny case says "00301". Could it be that this early production run came with something a little different from the factory?

OK, if you check this link showing the exploded diagram from Hoye's site

Anyone have some of these available?

Also, does anyone have the description of the parts in the diagram....sometimes it is tough to tell if some are orings, snap rings or washers just from the picture.

My address is pastor@southwestbaptist.org

Thanks

I tried that... and for a lot of the parts, this is what I get

Sorry, this product is not listed on our website yet.
With over 40,000 Yanmar parts in stock we probably have
it though. Please contact us and we can send you a link to
the product's page as well as pricing and availability

Your absolutely right. If you will contact Hoyes I'm confident they will be able to help you. They are fine folks to deal with.

Get yourself a OEM YM1500/1500D parts book. The nomenclature will be in Japanese, but the part #'s are in Arabic, (English), which is all you need to order parts.
