Hi everyone. This is my second time I've been on this website and think it is just great!! My question is my tractor doesn't have remotes on the back of it. I've been told to T into the loader and run a couple of lines to the back. I could use a valve like they use on wood splitters. Is this what I should do? Is this the best way to go about it?

This is why I like to load the tractors right when new as I don't think you have an option at this time but to add or build a universal system at this point.

Thanks art,
So, if I T into my loader valve, that would be fine? Is this the best place?

You cannot Tee into any high pressure hydraulic lines-it won't work. The fluid, like electricity will take the path of least resistance which would be through the other valve.

Count how may hoses are on your FEL valve and get back to us-we can help you plumb in a new valve properly.

Please take a pic of the FEL valve and post it here. Then we can be of much more help.

There are several ways to do this, depending on funds.

First install a relief valve across the pump.

1 - Two ball valves and a tee.

2 - You could install this 12v selector valve to select which valve, front or rear you want to use.

3 - The most common way is, if your current valve has a PB port, then you can add one, two, or three valves downstream, if each of them has a PB port, except for the last one.

4 - With a PB port in the FEL valve, add a 3 lever valve on the back.

Keep in mind, the wood splitter valve is a detent valve.

OK, here are a couple of pics. I hope this will shed a little light on things.

JJ, sorry but what do you mean by a detent valve. What sort of valve should I look for.

/ Kubota lL 5450 |Question #9
Great-you have 7 hoses total.

One of the ports should be marked with a P or PB-it is the "power beyond" port. That port can be plumbed to the IN of a new valve, and the PB port of the new valve would get hooked to where the old PB line went.

If you search threads here in the hydraulics forum for the term "remote" and "power beyond" you will learn lots...this is a very frequently discussed topic.

How many remotes (functions) do you want?
What is the GPM rating for your machine?

Basically you want a:

4-way
3 postion
spring return to center
open center (tandem center is the actual proper name)
sized for at least what your tractor GPM rating is.

Id you answer the two questions I asked-I you point you to good example. Please also note that I simplified the hook-up description I post above till we get more info and you do some searching.

You will need something like THIS valve with the optional Power Beyond sleeve.

Hi Kenny,

I looked at that valve. Since I have no Idea, I'm going to ask, On my Dads tractors there is only one valve for the remotes. (He has newer JD,s) why would I have to have a valve with two handles? I would only need two remotes(two outlets) on the back of the tractor. Also I looked at my valve on the loader....there is one port that is marked with a P. Sorry for so many questions.

Mike...ONE remote IS ONE handle and two outlets. You said two remotes so that is why I linked that valve. If you really only need one then it will be cheaper.

The "P" means "pressure" or IN from the pump. You need to identify the hose that goes toward the rear and supply's the 3PH-That is the "power beyond" line.

Look at the schematic below for an idea of how to plumb everything.
