I have a '00 4200 HST and I want to add a 3rd. SCV. There is a guy on here selling a kit for $150 to add it. He says it has the ports, lines, lever cable and instruction. Is there anything else I need on my tractor to make it work? The part # is LVBM19694. I have a 420 loader on it but I have to plug in my MMM to one of the loader ports and use the joystick to pick it up and down. JD wanted $700 for this option whenit was new.

I have a 4600 same vintage. 4600 is the large frame, I think the 4200 is medium frame. So there are going to be some differences. I had the john deere 3 SCV put on by the dealer. It is a mechanically simple install- no rocket science. But a big PITA ergonomically- so someone more limber and willing to get oil in thier hair took my money. As long as you have the loader valve on the machine already the third valve is just sitting there in the loader valve block. all the kit needs to do is to get a control line and hyraulic fluid in and out of the block. The valve control is a bicycle brake type cable. this runs through a drilled hole in fender, to a new lever on the fender that replaces the cupholder. For my tractor the kit included the hard lines to the rear. It went into blank holes on the power beyond bracket. If you don't have power beyond, you will need the bracket. Then the dealer/factory "rube goldberg" part. This was for a front grapple, so soft lines from the disconnects were run to the FEL diconnect bracket ( Extra hole in an extension braket ).
Later tractors (4X10, 4X20 ??)have the optional lever near the 3PH lift lever for third SCV. And I think the diverter valve option on the 3X20,4X20 series lets you have maybe 2 or three extra functions ( Not sure). I have too much in this machine to " upgrade" machines before I win the lotto. Get the parts while they are still there. I had difficulty finding the complete kit for the fourth and fifith SCV's on my discontinued 4600 model. Repair parts would be lots of $$ to order all the pieces individually.

This is an attempt to post the link to the john deere parts catalog. Search under BM19694 leave out the LV JD parts book You can use the where used button, search your machine under alphabetical index under S find the third SCV and it will give picture and parts breakdown.

What you can do is buy the parts from JD that include the bracket on the
valve, the cable remote control, and the friction lever that goes on the
fender. The work ports are accessed on the bottom of the triple SCV, so
you can just buy standard fittings and connect them to hoses with QDs.
These hoses do not have to be attached to any bracket as JD does....you
can just attach them to each other when not used, using one male and
one female QD. Or put a terminating bracket somewhere else.

I plan to do it the first way. I have bought the 3rd SCV control bracket, but
nothing else so far. I am ambivalent about the friction-style lever that
JD uses.

JD does have a "kit" for the 430 loader to add a third function, I think it cost's about $300 or so (JDParts is not cooperating right now so I cannot get a picture) but it includes rubber hoses that run from the rear SCV coupler to two new couplers mounted just above your existing couplers for the loader, then new hardlines that run along the loader frame with the other lines for the new function.

BUT, You can do the same thing if you want with long hoses for much less then the JD kit I think?

I just posted a reply on another part of site, anyway I will go through it here again.... so the jd 4000 series rigs have an extra valve on the scv and it seems perfict for adding a grapple until you really get into. first the 3rd valve kit is a "rear exiting" kit meaning the hoses go out the rear, not a huge deal run soft hoses to the front for bucket and grapple use. second the kit utilizes a lever on the 4300 kit it is up on the arm rest on the bucket "joy stick" side not unusable but less than good. lastly its $350 and not a great solution. any help greatly app.
