In that thread, I thought that you were condemning my use of generic ink cartridges while you were promoting the use of generic ink in the other post.

Perhaps I was a little rude in pointing out the disparity. Sorry.

O.K. I went back and read it. The point in that thread was that Epson successfully sued many manufacturers of printer cartridges that infringed on their patent. I didn't condemn your use of the cartridges, I just supported Epson's right to protect their product in that situation.

My post in this thread is more along the lines of the ink in the cartridges, not the cartridges themselves. I plan on trying to refill my legal ink cartridges with aftermarket ink. Now, if Epson should sue the manufacturer of the aftermarket ink for patent infringement and win, I would again support Epson.

Now I get it. It's sorta like it's ok for me to use Rotella oil in my Kubota instead of Kubota oil as long as Rotella doesn't make their oil bottles in the same shape as the Kubota bottles.

My understanding is they try to engineer the cartridges to impede refilling. Since I ditched ink jets for a laser, I don't keep up with this now.

Just ordered a Brother laser for the Mrs. for $65.84 including tax and free shipping from Office Depot. Sale runs through May 30. I have no connection to this store and get nothing out of this.

We had small printer, and every time we printed something off we had to refill the cartridges several times a day....depending on what we was printing.

We home school our two children....and my wife prints off a lot of books from the internet....so we needed a bigger printer.

We bought a Brother laser printer that uses a toner cartridge.
