I just came across this video and thought many would enjoy the modified Fordson tractor. Dial up modems will probably have trouble playing it.

Pretty neat. I have seen Youtube videos on a similar russian vehicle. Wonder why it never took on? Possibly the caterpillar track was more effecient?

I wonder how many roll over accidents they had? It looks fairly top heavy to me... Taking a slope sideways doesn't seem like it would work well.

My son has an RC car called a "Terrain Twister" that uses the same drive concept. His even crosses water! I guess there was a market for that after all!

Didn't dial up go out with that tractor?:)

Dial up is still an option for some on the losing side of the digital divide. (rural areas)

I think the fact that this design wouldn't work on hard dry surfaces (like pavement) is the thing that killed it.

The Flixxy version is edited and doesn't show all there is to see in the original, including use of the screw drum drive with cars, at least in the summer.

See Armstead Snow Motors on Vimeo for a complete (or at least more so) version.

I'd seen a short version of that (youtube probably?) but never the long one. Thanks for posting the link; really neat!

Almost every subject on TBN has appeared many times before.
