They all look well built. Which model would you recomend for hay and livestock operation? It will do a lot of loader work such as picking up round bales and barn cleaning.

How are they to service?

I have a 6000 4x4 and have done everything from cutting and baling hay (4x4 New Holland), feeding round bales with spears, bush hogging some very steep pasture, digging post holes, disking garden spot, clearing right of way through woods for fence, grading roads and trails, and hauling wood in FEL bucket.

That being said, you probably want to look at the 6030 or 6530 series. They are basically a 00 with a more open operator platform.

The 20 series tractors are also worth looking at. Details at Mahindra Tractor - Compact tractors, utility tractors, farm tractors, ag tractors, attachments, implements & farm equipment - all built tough!

Hope this helps.

Servicing if simple and straightforward. Just follow the plan in the manual. My dealer has been really helpful if something needs clarification.

This tractor is a work horse.

I'm gonna jump on the 00 series bandwagon too. The 30 series is a upgraded 00 series. I too have the 6000. Before the 7010, the 6000 did everything here on the 172 acre farm in KY. I'd look really closely at the 6530. Right now they seem to have the best financing offers. Any of the 30 series will move your hay with no sweat. If your going to be running a roller you will want the 65 hp. If your only squaring the 4530 will do the job.
The 20 series adds a tranny with 4 more speeds and a bit more loader heft.
If you can swing the $ and want a cab the 7010 is awesome!

I have a new Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto, 2WD, power steering, partial constant mesh gear tranny 8F/2R) with the ML250 FEL (6-ft bucket). A step below what you want in HP but very comparable in features to what you're looking for. I plan to do haying on my 10 acres of flat pasture land. I have the skid steer quick attach option on the FEL (about $800) and dealer installed rear triple remotes ($750). I highly recommend both.

I plan to use an FEL-mounted bale accumulator and bale grapple so the QA is a must. And my sicklebar mower and the MF-124 two-twine baler both have hydraulics.

I'm coming up on 50 hours on the tractormeter. Servicing includes replacing the filter in the hydraulics system ($38) and cleaning the filter screen in the hydraulics suction line. You have to drain the hydraulic system to clean the filter. Then you have to get under the tractor and disconnect part of the hydraulic suction line to get to that screen. Not a big deal (I hope).

Engine oil and filter-change at 100 hours and every 200 hours afterwards.
Hydraulics filter - change at 50 hours and every 500 hours afterwards
Hydraulics screen-clean and 50 hours and every 1000 hours afterwards
Air cleaner-change primary element and safety cartridge (whatever that is) every 900 hours
Fuel filter-change primary element every 250 hours and secondary element every 500 hours.

Servicing intervals for the 5525 are pretty typical of ag tractors.

Flusher,,,the safety cartridge is a filter within a filter....once you take out the air filter it will become intuitive...BobG in VA

Thanks for all the replies. It seems everyone is happy with their Mahindra. The more I look at them the more I like them. I had never gave them a series look before.

Also it sounds like everyone likes the 30 series better than the 20 series. They seem to be a little overlap between the two on HP. Are they both built in India? I do like the open platform on the 20 series.
I see it is about $6,000 more for 4-wheel drive when compared with the 2-wheel drive models, is it worth it?

I read where thay were a partner with IH back in the 60's. Is there any similarities between the old IH and their new tractors?

I have a 6520 4WD. If you are hopping on and off a lot, the 6520's wide open platform is your ticket. The 12 speed transmission gives you way more options in ground speed in different operations. I am at work right now or I would be quoting lift rates for the 30 series, but 3900 pounds on my loader and 5100 pounds on my 3PH is awesome. I think the 20 series is heavier also. The extra lights are a big plus also if you do a lot of night work. The tilt steering wheel is a wonder when slow blading and fast mowing.
You really need to test drive (play on them) to see which one fits you better. One may feel foreign to you, while one will fit like a glove!:D

Brandi is giving you the best possible advice. You are making a multi year commitment and need to pick the one that you are comfortable with.

Brandi is right, you should sit on and try both the 20/60 series (the 60 series tractors are replacing the the 20 series, and almost the same but they meet the new EPA regs.) and 30 series tractors. The 20/60 series is the luxury model as compared to the 30 series. Try them both.
As for the IH similarities, the 25 series tractors would be the closest to the models that Mahindra made for IH.

IH licensed Mahindra to build the IH B414 tractor in the 1960s. My 5525 is probably the great great grandchild of that marriage. I think my 5525 has a lot in common with the IH Farmalls of the 1960s.

Thanks Brandi for the posting the specs! I think I like the 20 series the best also. Mahindra seems to be the best value out there with many passionate owners. :) It would fit nice in my operation. ;)

You know HHH, I have never heard of Hoosier Hay. Is this a regional hay?
My dealer has a sweet used 7520 for sale down here in Conroe Texas. It belongs to the service manager. A lot of folks go with the 7520 instead of the 6520 for larger round balers. He and the salesman run a hay operation down here and need to sale the 7520 to pay a repair bill he has on his cabbed New Holland. The 7520 has the ML276 loader and about 300-350 hours on it. It is a 2007 model and was bought just after I bought my 6520. I think he wants $24,500.00. It also has hyd. lines from the rear remote up to the loader. He used it to power a bale accumulator/stacker.

Adding my 2 cents worth. If I was to do it all over again, the 6000 4WD, FEL would be my choice. My 4500 4WD is nice, but.......

Hi Brandi,
I just took the name Hoosier, which is the official demonym for a resident of the state of Indiana and since I love to make hay, put it all together for the name. ;)
That seems like a pretty good price on the 7520. I think you are right the 7520 would fit better if rolling rounds. I am going to google the distance to Texas from Indiana. I will try to contact them to see if they have any pics.
I will try to get some pics of our hoosier hay which we think is pretty gosh darn good.:D

Hoosier Hay Man,
I kind of figured that.:) But I am confused on you signing off with HHH. Is that your initials. Beautiful hay photos and pastures! I am kinda envious, as I want to bale hay, but don't have the room.:( I was going to say something funny like why did you take photos of all that Texas hay, until I saw the ribbons and trophy. Good job.:D I once was going to buy alfalfa from my uncle in the Texas Panhandle and haul it down here for resale. He was selling it then for $3 a bale in bulk and it was bringing $7 a bale down here. But Fire ants migrated up to there, so it was a big gamble. Do y'all have Fire ants there yet? Or is it just too cold for them that far north?
hugs, Brandi

Good luck........hugs, Brandi

Thanks for the contact info Brandi. I will try to give them a call tomorrow afternoon. Those are neat tractors. I have never set on a Mahindra yet. I did a dealer serch and there are a couple of dealers within 80 miles. I plan on going to the Louisville Farm Show in Febuary. I know they will have one there.

HHH are not my intials. I don't always proof read my typing like I should. It should be HHM. ;)

First name is John. :)

No fire ants in Indiana that I am aware of. What do they do to a hay field?
It must be too cold for them. We were 8 deg yesterday morning and that is starting to get to cold for me. It is getting cold early this year. We have snow on the ground and those round bales in picture above are already feed. Hay is going fast.

Talk to you later.
