I have 7 big patches of pompas grass root pads I need to get rid of.
It was about 12 feet high and I cut it all down.
Now I have what appears to be just a big growth of stump/root and dirt about 5 feet square bottom and about 25 inches high at each stalk bottom.
I know this stuff will come back if I dont kill it.
I had burn it back about 12 years ago and it came back.
Burning wont get rid of it.
I thought about using diesel fuel or gas to kill the roots.
Any suggestions?

Dumping gas or diesel on it is not a good way. Even if it works, do you want it in your water supply? Do your kids want it there?

A WELL CONTROLLED hot fire on top will get much of it, but still may leave some roots. And unless you can be certain of controlling the fire, I'd be very careful there.

I'd argue for mechanical removal of as much as you can get. Be careful of how you dispose of it. Then as it starts growing, an application of roundup to anything that starts to grow. You might need a second application.
