First, What is Generic Crossbow? I would love to find some as $250 for 2.5 gallons is a real mind numbing experience.

Second, I understand that Crossbow breaks down very quickly, like in 24 hours once sprayed. Some sort of reaction with the plants starts the process, then the process is not stoppable.

I believe Garlon is similar to Crossbow and is a little cheaper not sure what the price is. I believe you also need a chemical license for it because it has an aquatic label or at least in my state.

I don't understand the comments that some guys make saying that they see wilting the same day. In my experience it takes a week to two weeks to kill the plant after spraying.

I find wilting on broadleaf to be evident fairly quick if you take a hard look. It takes a much longer time to look like its dead tho.

how longwill the effects of Crossbow or Roundup last?
Not asking about the shelf life of product.

I think the effects of the Roundup are permanent and forever. Once the vegetation is dead, it is dead forever. Of course, new vegetation will start growing soon afterwards.
