Things found in the field

Was hogging last weekend at camp. There used to be a farm there long time ago, just
some foundation left here and there. I stopped hogging for a rest, looked back and on top of my brushhog was a piece of steel rod approx. 3/8"-1/2" diam. and 8-10' long, all twisted and bent but laying on top of the hog, nice and peaceful...just the way we like it.....Boy that would have ugly to get caught-up underneath

While bush hogging a field from an old abandoned island farm, I bumped into a large metal object with my grapple. Picked it up and discovered it was a gas station pump. Did a little investigating and found out that the old farm had a pump which used to serve the island until about WWII. The area of the field I found it in is actually loaded with old car parts, farm equipment and other large metal junk.

There is also a surviving piece of farm equipment. Check out the photo of the "tractor" used on the farm. I especially love the FEL which if you look closely is just a hydraulic cylinder and an old tire that can be lashed to whatever you want to pick up. I also love the ballast which is literally bolted to the frame. I kinda doubt you'd find this model in any catalog. Pretty ingenious though for island farmers to have cobbled it together.

It is green. Must be an old John Deere that they won't admit today to having ever built it!

Actually, it is green with red wheels making it a Fendt:)

Okay, I'm sure it's just the redneck in me, but...Anybody else notice the rear spring setup on this old machine. I've heard of quarter-elliptacle springs (which is half of a leaf spring making good travel, but not as robust), but these are something I've never seen before. Anybody ever see a setup like it??

Here are a few more photos with a view of the springs. I don't have one of the rear springs directly.
