When I first got the tractor (two weeks ago), the overrun clutch worked great. Yesterday though, when I push in the clutch it works for a second then starts pushing the tractor.

Is there any maintainance to be done to one, or anything to check?

Is the clutch internal to the tractor? or one of those aftermarket add-ons that slips over the PTO stub? If it's the latter, it just might be dirty. There's a spring return (or centrifugal) ratchet inside that could be jammed with debris.

it is an add on deal. I'll look into removing it to see what I can see. It is used so who knows the state of things.

thanks for the reply

I had an overriding clutch one time on an 8n it worked fine then started not working. I looked at it and found a spring pin that held the inner workings in place had worked its way out to where it locked everything up. I took a punch and put it back in place and worked fine after that

I think the only normal maintenance is grease. Take it apart and see what's wrong. Worst case a new one isn't too expensive.

wow, that seems too good to be true. Half price of other's I've seen.

1000 rpm max huh. Anyone know what the pto speeds are on a Mitsubishi D1600II?

My pto has four selections, but I have no idea what those equal in rpm.

I have a 4 speed PTO on my yanmar
1st gear should be 540 . Probably around 2200 - 2400 engine RPM
I bought the quick connect clutch( the yellow one in the pic.) for around $50.00
