Just wondering what everyone out there thinks this winter is going to be like. The farmers almanac is predicting a colder, wetter, and higher amounts of precipitation this winter for most of us.
Do any of you out there have predictions based on the past or your experiences.

One thing my grandfather has always looked at and his father also was how high the squirels and bees built there nests and hives in a tree. This is supposed to tell us how much snow we will get in a season. He says it is accurate most of the time.

I have always thought if I am prepared we will have an easier winter. I have a new pole barn, tractor, and off course a nice new 3pt. snowblower. All wood is cut, split, and stacked. Propane and kerosene are topped off. So this usually means it will be warm and will get very little snow. :D:D

Looking foward to everyone else thoughts and predictions.

I would not be surprised if squirels and bees checked on your fuel storage and than went one to build their nests and hives. :D

Uh-oh, farmers are stocking wood high - it's gonna be hard winter this year.

Probably an accurate prediction, Tallyho8.
I'm more concerned with hurricane season than I am with the winter season.

I predict "Gustav" is coming to see N.O. and test those "new" levees.:D:D:D:D

Well, that's one prediction that I hope doesn't come true. :( The new levees are not even half built yet and the New Orleans hurricane evacuation plans are so totally screwed up and unprepared that a real evacuation could not exist. And I have only cleared about 300 of the trees I had down from Katrina. I still have about 50 more to clear way in back. Most of us have little or no insurance as all the insurance companies left town or refuse to insure for wind damage.

Please Gustav, go to Mexico.............
