I put my Kubota BX2230 on CL last week for sale. So far I have had 3 calls; 1 for the tractor and 2 for the trailer hitch implement. It's just an old receiver hitch that I cut up and welded some steel on to build a hitch. Apparently there is a demand for these?

I'm thinking of building 5 of them as a "test marketing" and seeing if anyone bites. I've got a pretty good idea of the time and cost involved for these first 5, what do you all think I could charge for them?

I think they are a great first attachment to a new owner. I made one due to getting things in the barn and moving things around. I would do a few and see what happens? Ebay has a few listed 89 and up! BTW, Nice job you have!:D

Tons of people are making 3pt trailer hitches of various design.. mostly based around a drawbar with an a-frame, and then you add a ball, and some have a toungue welded on.. and some have the reciever for the toungue welded on... Tisco even makes a kit to turn your 3pt drawbar into a trailer hitch ball carrier.. 25$ for the a-frame kit.. you supply the drawbar and the ball...

browse around and see what the other 99 suppliers are charging..

It does seem folks like those things. I have seen them from the about $75-$300 depending on the design (some can take a gooseneck)

Personally, I weld square reciever tube on most of my implements so I dont have to take them off just to to move a trailer around. Just pop the ball on and go.

Greg,
There's alot of them out there, you'll have to come up with something unique about yours, there's still room for new ideas, always some new receiver accessory coming out that every one wants.
I bought one of the more expensive models and only used it a couple of times, I use the one I made for my bucket almost every day, toyed with the idea of marketing my "bucket buddy" something that anyone with a loader could use, but there so easy to make most guys would just make it them selves.

This a very utilitarian one I came up with. I put a 2" ball on the side. It is just a tad off center. I also use the chin and lift stuff off of ground or pull t-post out of the ground.

JC,

P.s. John.. I like your bucket hitch system.. only draw back is that you need to just go backward all the time:D

I made almost the exact same set up as JC - Jetro except I added a bolt on reciever hitch under the draw bar. It works great for me.

I know that this thread is a little old, but the information is timeless. I'm new into the tractor world and am reviewing all of the "Make It Yourself" entries. I'm now up to page 33 :)

JC, I have a question.

How do you pull a t-post with your chain? I don't see a hook and I have a number of posts to pull this spring. I'm making a version of your trailer hitch and would like more information on how you use the chain.

Thanks,

Clem

1)
On your bucket hitch, when you hook up to a trailer does the front of
your bucket (CUTTING EDGE) hit your trailer or the jack on a trailer?

2) When you bolted in on the top, does your bolts come out on the inside of your bucket?
(on my bucket there is a hollow space on the inside of the bucket at the top, was just thinking about welding it on top)

Several years ago i put one on the inside of my bucket, i bolted it in
and when i don't need it i take it out. but when i go to hook up on any kind of a trailer it is hard too see, because it is down so low.

I make extension hitches, i have a slide in camper for a pickup truck
and pull a boat behind, if i didn't use the extension hitch the boat would hit the camper if i made a sharp turn.

(If i put the hitch on top of my bucket and use a extension hitch, do you think it would be better to hook up to a trailer)

Do you happen to have a bucket that disconnects easily. Mine comes off with two lynch pins.
What I did was weld two 3X4 rectangular tubes across where the bucket hooks in. It really strengehened up the loader and is better for the bucket when on as it keeps the bucket from torquing when just using a corner.
By rolling the frame forward with the bucket off you have a perfect flat on the 2X4 to put a ball on and it is out of the way and is also handy to put a chain on when picking.
