L3400 Kubota
Fits my needs
Model Year: 2006

The tractor is hydrostatic 4-wheel drive and the right size for the work I have to do. I have some flat land and some hilly land with trees. I had to clear a lot of under brush and make roads as well as some fieldwork. The hydro transmission makes tight work easy and when it feels as if you’re about to get in to trouble you just let of the pedal and it stops. I added a plate under the front to prevent brush from ripping the steering link bearing covers or bending the rods.

Pros: Powerful, simple, good size, runs 5" bushhog fine.
Cons: sterring link rubber is exposed to brush, needed to make a plate to protect them.

I've been very happy with my L3400DT. I chose the gear transmission over the hydro for economy. My choice was the 28 hp hydro or the 34 hp gear to fit my budget. I would have liked the 34 hp hydro, but am satisfied with the gear. Most of my operation is rough mowing (60" King Kutter) on my 80 acre property, so the gear trans is acceptable. If I were doing more loader work the hydro would be nicer. In general it has been extremely reliable and rugged. It has started and ran without issue no matter how cold it has gotten (Northern Wisconsin). Power and fuel consumption are very good and fit my needs well.

Pros: Economy, reliability ruggedness, simplicity
Cons: Seat is not suspended well, 3 pt is not smooth operating, I wish low forward was the same ratio as reverse.

L3400 Kubota
Happy Kubota Owner
Model Year: 2008

I purchased my L3400 (34HP) Kubota 4WD in the Spring/Summer of 2008 to do a variety of chores on the 5 acres I own and live on near Grand Mesa, CO. I have irrigation ditches to maintain, rocks and dirt to move, a barn to build, snow to plow. I bought it with a front loader, a backhoe, and a post hole digger (12"). Being new to this kind of implement I'm still learning how to use it effectively, but despite owner/operator shortcomings. the tractor does great. The only disappointment so far is that the post hole digger busted a shear pin on the first hole I was digging for my barn and since I was under time constraints I hired the rest of that job out so haven't used that implement since, however it was a Rhino auger and not a Kubota one. I had thoughts of buying small haying implements for it, but I haven't yet cleared enough new pasture to warrant this and probably will just buy my hay in the future. The tractor has done all that I've asked and still has more to give as I become more experienced. The only negative is the lack of a tool box on the unit but I can add that at some point by drilling some holes - not as "elegant" as factory installed, but utilitarian which is what counts. The dealer - Western Implement in Grand Junction - has been great although I haven't had any problems to really test their service ability; I'm sure they'll be fine. Over the years, and learning the hard way, I'm believer in that saying "I can't afford to buy cheap", so for me the higher cost in the short term is offset by long term use. Hope this review helps.

Pros: Quality; reliability; power
Cons: Lack of tool box/storage.

We use this tractor for all the light farm work, such as brush hogging the pasture, hauling water, raking hay. We also pull a 6' woods finish mower to mow our 3+ acres of yard around the house and out buildings. We did not purchase a high lift with this unit. But I do use a box blade (most useful tool around)

Pros: Powerfull, simple and reliable. Cost effective and does the job.
Cons: Little things like the light switch and the SMV holder broke. Also, the gasket on the fuel cap came apart. Nothing major and simple and cheap to repair.

L3400 Kubota
Kubota L3400 Manual Transmission Perfect for 5 acres
Model Year: 2004

I love my L3400. I use it to mainly mow/shred 5 acres of flat pasture in West Texas using a 60" brush hog. No complaints other than I wish I could have afforded an M series. Bigger is always better!

Pros: Reliable, easy to use and maintain, does what it's supposed to do
Cons: Wish the front grill guard didn't block the headlights.

Great tractor for my use. Right size, right power, easy to use, super price, and good dealer support. I'd opt to buy rear remotes at time of purchase next time - lower cost.

Pros: Good power, right size.
Cons: Need rear hydraulics.
