L3400 Kubota
Kubota L 3400 D
Model Year: 2010

Bought this L3400 gear drive new last month for its basic tractor design. Supplied with 4in 1 bucket and rotary slasher. Works well except for the Jerky 3 point hitch which I understood was fixed with the later models.

Pros: Strong little tractor.
Cons: Jerky 3 point hitch.

L3400 HST w/FEL
Model Year: 2010

I am a recreational farmer with 20 acres without an extensive farming background so a new tractor gave me peace of mind. The L3400 has been great so far and I was able to do the 50 hours maintenance myself. Only regret is that I would like a larger tractor. The compact tractor makes attaching 3 point implements a bit tight and awkward for one person to attach. With the exception of the intermittent foot trundle pedal switch it has been flawless.

Pros: Great turing radius easy to operate.
Cons: Intermittent issue with foot trundle switch.

Kubota L3400 in Two Different Environments
Model Year: 0

Bought the tractor new from Kubota dealer in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Most knowledgeable and helpful I could find in three Sate area. The L3400 was chosen because it seems to be a good size to haul and still do the work I wanted. In Colorado we use the tractor for maintaining the road to the house, digging with the bucket, and the majority of the time we drag logs and cut trees. In Iowa we move snow and do general work. Only complaint is the tractor needs more weight on the rear wheels. Have attempted to address this issue with more weight on the 3 point.

Pros: Good value for the money and reliability. Good resale value.
Cons: Needs more weight.

Great Small Farm Tractor
Model Year: 2010

I have been trying to operate a small 6acre farm using a 2N Ford Tractor, but found it becoming more unreliable, hard on my knee, and short of options for attachments. The Kubota is small enough to be economical, but big enough to get all the tasks done I needed and much more. I find it easier to switch attachments, and much more powerful for things like mowing and running borders. I added clamp on forks and now move 3-stand hay bales easier than ever. Of special value to me is the hydrostatic transmission. With arthritis affecting my knees, the value of reduced clutch use is huge. Lots of "bells and whistles", and it didn't take long to get comfortable using them.

Pros: Hydrostatic transmission, ease of attachment application.
Cons: Diesel - I have only this equipment in diesel, so I needed to keep that in mind for refueling.

Great Tractor!
Model Year: 2010

I have a 2010 Kubota L3400DT 4 wheel drive I purchased for my 5 acre farm. It has performed flawlessly! Plenty of power, using a 5 foot bush hog, box blade, turning plow, disk, etc. The tractor is comfortable to operate and does not leave you fatigued after several hours on it. Would recommend a Kubota to anyone.

Pros: Power, size, comfort, economical.
Cons: None.

Ideal for my use. A little lite for 'real' field work, but a good value for what it is.

Pros: Ideal mid-size tractor.
Cons: None.

Minor Problems
Model Year: 2007

It has always started in cold weather. (Below 0) Fuel cap replaced 2 times, fragile and breaks at the threaded part, do to screwing cap on. Hyd. suction hose hardened and cracked. HST, the only way to go. Bought new. Overall, very pleased with unit.

Pros: Got what I paid for.
Cons: No big ones.

Kubota L3400

Great small tractor. I used it to help me build my new house, clear land, pick up pallets and lumber, and plant crops. I have also purchased a landscape rake, pallet forks, box blade, land pride 48" disk, land pride 72"finish mower, John Deere rough cut mower. The only issues I have had is the oil sight gauge cracked and leaked (not from impact) and a valve on a hose failed and would not allow hydraulic fluid to flow. There should be better protection already installed against limbs penetrating into the front grill and not an add on item.

Pros: HST, workhorse of a tractor.
Cons: Needs front grill protection.

I use it to mow fields and along roads, maintain road surfaces, spread stone on road surfaces, prepare around six acres of food plots for dove, turkey, and deer, dig post holes and plant seedlings. Have some very steep areas to get in and out of, so the four wheel drive is a must. I like everything about it.

Pros: FWD, exhaust under the tractor, so not breathing the fumes, automatic trans., front end loader.
Cons: None that I have discovered so far.

Kubota L3400 4X4
Model Year: 2008

This is a basic no-frills tractor that performs it's job well. It is strong and will spin before it stalls out. The loader is what makes this tractor so useful. The only problem I have is the cheap manual transmission. Maybe I should have opted for the hydro. The transmission and gear case is very noisy; I think because of the straight cut gears. Being non-synchronized you have a tendency to grind gears if you aren't careful. It does seem odd that my 70 year old Ford 2N has a much quieter transmission.

Pros: Dependable, Strong.
Cons: Transmission Noisy.

I do not like the steering linkage sticking out of the front, built a bumper to protect these but still have to watch them. Yes, I did hit the fuel filter but now with a good solid guard I should not have to worry about it again. Next project will be to build a belly pan to protect my filters and hydraulic hoses. I have build a rack for my front end loader with quick attach that is design for forks, scarrifier teeth for light brush (alders) removal and will also handle my snow blade that I am building. Some future projects will be a tooth bar, cab, box blade and heavier scarrifier teeth on my 3 pt hitch. I bought this tractor for snow removal and working on my woodlot but have been spending my winters in Florida since so I have not been using it too much. I do know that I want a cab for the winters coming when I will not be coming south. I do not have any pictures with me in Florida.

Pros: Starts very easy in cold weather and powerful loader.
Cons: Paint seem to be dulling very quickly on the hood.

Excellent Machine 4x4 DT w/Front End Loader
Model Year: 0

Purchased this smaller tractor to do small jobs around the house and farm. Have found that this tractor has no problem doing big jobs also. From carrying 4x5 round bales to clearing fence rows. A tractor that was originally frowned at by my family when I purchased it due to size, is now the same tractor that I am unable to keep my dad from using on the farm. First Kubota and led to family purchasing another big brother 8540. Use to be green, blue, and red for us but orange is taking our farm over now.

Pros: Affordability; Ease of Use; Easy on Fuel; Muscle; Reliability.
Cons: Would be nice if they would add rear hydraulic hook up.

Versatile Tractor
Model Year: 2006

First time tractor owner, tired of working by hand on our 20 acre cabin site and finally convinced the wife of a tractors benefits. I have cleared a firebreak around our cabin, moved a lot of dirt, created a parking pad and begun a rockery. This tractor is very easy to operate, sips fuel and has plenty of power for my needs. I have a BH75 backhoe that has proven very useful and am looking forward to this winter and removing snow from my 300' driveway with an Agrotrend 60" blower. Implements are a breeze to change, no regrets.

Pros: Comfortable to use, fuel efficent.
Cons: No tool box, loader struggle a little when full with heavy material.

2007 Kubota L3400 HST
Model Year: 2007

This is a base model CUT. For the price it comes with the features expected. Nothing fancy, 4WD, 3 Range HST. I have used for loader work, grading, food plots, snowblowing, feeding hay, and most recently made hay with it cutting, raking, and baling (small Hesston 5530 Rounder). It performed beyond expectations, making round bales with 28.5 PTO HP.

Pros: Value; Reliability; Color; Price.
Cons: Original 3 point had turnbuckles to adjust, pin system much easier..

I sold my 1994 Ford-Holland which was a good tractor. I needed a little more hp for my tiller. I looked at the local ford & John Deere dealers & found some good tractors but lousy customer service.also the same at the local Kubota dealer.i finally called a Kubota dealer who was over 100 miles from my home, but had great customer service. Needles to say, I bought my tractor from this dealer at a very good price. This is an excellent tractor & I highly recommend it.

Pros: Have had no problems---love it!
Cons: Haven't found any yet.

L3400 Kubota
So Far, Not a Single Problem
Model Year: 2005

I bought this tractor in July with a front end loader already installed. I've used it quite a bit for dirt work and mowing and it runs like a champ. I changed out most of the fluids and filters just in case. I got it used because I couldn't afford a new one and I believe I spent my money wisely. All I had to do was replace some very minor parts ($20)and I was good to go. Engine and Hydraulics have worked flawlessly now the 4WD gives me plenty of traction.

Pros: Dependable; Plenty of power for size.
Cons: None.

After owning this tractor for a year, I can find little to fault the machine. Economical to run and has more power than I expected. We put it on a 20 ft tile bed trailer and haul it back and forth between Iowa and Colorado. It moves snow in Iowa and pulls logs, digs, grades, and lifts what ever we can l find in Colorado. Front end loader and bald on the three point. Looked at all of the other brands and read posts on this web site. The no money down and no interest made the choice easier. Cheyenne Kubota is a great dealer.

Pros: Holds value, low fuel consumption, power to weight, well engineered.
Cons: More weight needed for traction. Bobcat weights more.
