Zoom Surprise

I took a picture of this unidentified spider and didn't realize until it was zoomed on full screen that the bumps on her back were babies exiting from he egg. Below is the same picture with the spider's back enlarged.

Interesting! I think I'd be moving some of those to better examine its back for a violin shape and three sets of eyes. It's probably harmless, but you never know until you know. You know?

I was smoking a ham last week and found a black widow in my coffee can where I keep my wood chips. It had a clear hourglass on its back.

Don, that's some very good photography, but I prefer a good strong flyswatter to a camera when dealing with spiders.

I thought the red hourglass was on the bottom of a black widow spider.
Maybe thats just here in WV we are kinda backward on things around here.

Yes, it is on the bottom. I was looking down into the wood chips and simply saw a spider with the hourglass. I dumped out a few chips and stepped on the spider, spreading the hourglass on its belly to its side, top, head, and a bit of the concrete slab.:laughing:

I think it just might be the Wolf Spider or a look alike. Thanks for the ID. There are 200 species of the Wolf Spider, and ours looks like some of them. They drag their egg pouch around and the hatchlings ride on mommy's back just like our spider.:thumbsup:
