View attachment 2018 load of hay.jpg

Getting the last load of hay for 2018 to the classic 100 year old hayloft for the daughter's mini horses on the 22' 14K equipment tilt trailer towed by the 2010 F-150 equipped with the 11.2K max towing capacity option.

The the background you can see a tobacco barn of the same era that has been restored. It is a toss up if the owner does the same for his grandfather's old stock barn. He is a little older than I am and hates to just tear it down but the expense to save it would not be small.

Holy smokes, isn’t that barn about to fall down?

I hope not. We need to look at the other end of the barn to see how much it has shifted.

The owner would like to save it for personal reasons so we are going to look at it soon. Some external bracing maybe in order near term. It has a negative cash value is my thought but with 3 old telephone poles and the backhoe one could buy some time perhaps at no real cash cost.

Any thoughts?

I've seen steel cables attached to beams on opposite sides drawn in with a come-along used to pull walls back in before clamping down the cable. That shouldn't be too expensive. Then you need to deal with the foundation and bottom of the walls leaning out. I have friends dealing with that. Old barn with a crumbling foundation on the down-hill wall, made worse by a horse kicking the wall on the outside corner in a doorway.

If I have to go too far, I will haul in the truck, rather than take the trailer,,,
