The "M" mode is this really cool feature where you pull the shifter stalk down one notch. Then the small transmission readout screen turns to"

"6-5-4-3-2-1"

You then toggle a paddle switch on the shifter stalk to whatever gear you want to be in and the transmission hold it there.

It turns the Allison 6 speed into a manually shifted transmission with no clutch and no rowing of gears. Just a "+/-" switch that you tap with your finger!

I got the full size long bed because that's what the dealer had in stock so I didn't have to wait for an ordered one. I would have preferred the std. box. My previous 05 Dmax was on a smart buy plan and I opted for the early out plan for a new truck. I traded my 05 in with 29,000 miles. It was just broke in and I was getting 20MPG empty 14.5 towing. The salesman was going through the options with me on the new one when another customer he had talked on the phone with came in and bought my 05. It didn't last a half hour on his lot. The ink on the title wasn't dry yet.
New one has 65 more HP than 05 and more torque, a 2 1/2" receiver with 2" reducer, integrated trailer brake controller, XM radio (which took me a half hour to program 36 memory channels), power windows in the EC doors, the box is 1 1/2" taller than previous years, and tons of other features.

The M on the dash is if you want to manually shift it through the 6 gears and it will hold it in that gear till you shift.

By the way, for other 07 Dmax owners who haven't found it, My block heater 110V cord was on the passenger side zip tied under the coolant reservoir and not on the drivers side by the power steering reservoir as the owners manual says.

I had a choice between the '07 classic and '07 new body style.

I actually like the classic better because I like the dash layout better and I like the fact that it has 5 guages instead of 4. I also didn't want any part of the exhaust DPF system on any of the newer diesel trucks.

The new body style would have been great, too, but I'm happy with my choice. I would have loved the integrated brake controller. Since mine has a utility body, I got my choice of recievers and went with the 15K Putnam XDR.

My needs are smaller, and so's my rig. 2004 Dakota V8 QuadCab towing 14ft Hawkline 7,000 lb tandem-axle with electric brakes and load-levelling hitch.

My loads are typically 3,000 - 3,500 pounds but the distances are long. Whether hauling my old garden tractors to tractor shows 500 miles away (shown here), 900 mile trips (one way) to Tennessee hauling the PT-425, or the 2300+ tractor-hauling trip through the upper Midwest a couple years ago...

Just took receipt of my new 2008 Ford F-250. I plan on eventually getting a 18' trailer to tow my B7800 Kubota and BH, et al. I had a 2004 F-150 not bad but the new Super Duties just caught my eye and wallet. Anyway I am enjoying it as much as the Kubota.

The 330 cubic inch V-8, for the majority of my needs this engine does the job.

Beauty of a truck, disappointing engine. I can't understand for the life of me why folks buy a HD truck for driving around. I know it isn't for the ride quality.
If it weren't for the diesel in my SD I surely wouldn't have the truck.(maybe with a v10 if gas wasn't so much) Anyways best of luck with it.

The trailer was a rental from United. I think I must receive frequent flyer miles by now. I think it was 16' but not sure. The one they reserved for me (10') was too short so I took the "bigger" one to pick up the new addition to the family. Didn't measure it since I knew it was more than adequate. Great tilt feature on this one.

Tractor was purchaseed in lower FC. They were surprisely aggressive and had to get it from another dealer. Much better than one further up north which surprised me.

From the picture you posted, that trailer looked a lot longer than 16. I have a Bri-Mar 1812 and it is now way too short. I will be looking for another, I would like another Br-mar, but their longest is now only 20 ft, and this is still too short, I want to stay with bumper pull.

Larry - you're probably right. The tractor and FEL measure 12 feet and it looks like there is more than 4' of length to spare. Call United Rentals in Stamford and ask for the brand and length of their brand new tilt traler.

i really like your truck. although a Chevy man, i do like the looks of the F-250's such as yours. have to admit, if I happene to stumble on a Ford dealership and was quoted a good price on one such as this I just MIGHT have to take the plunge.
