i had a call at 7pm last night telling me that the well house generator has been " running all day long and that the power in neighborhood has not gone off" why they wait till 7 to call me is a wonder. Anyway i drive out there immediately and find a few issues.
1. generator history log shows power outage started at 2:45 pm.....all day my ***
2. utility meter screen is blank
3. neighbors house are indeed well lit.
4. upon opening transfer switch i find that utility power has 1 leg at 120 volts the other leg is dead. in other words generator was working just as intended.
5. i called power company and reported issue with their end. got call later that evening that they found broken underground line.

so the people kept their water on at night until repair was completed. why they waited 4 hours to contact anyone is beyond comprehension. The repairs could have been done during daylight hours and not at 9 pm. oh well not my propane bill.

6. i sent their homeowners association a bill for my time.

These guys are fast..... at least when compared to your customers who ignore maintenance for years, then wonder why No Go ?

So long as the cheque isn't rubber, could be worse....

I think my sister finally got a lower quote in California, 20kw Kohler with 100 amp service box, for only $17,000 installed.
If GRS charged that, he'd be emailing us from his laptop in the out islands of Bahama...;)

I know!

5000 gal underground tank for that monster. Wonder what that 2 stroke sounds like under load

Thinking of that tank today...... time/effort/$ just to get the approvals in place for that (most jurisdictions)..... ouch !

It was done back in the mid 80s, so I bet it was a whole lot easier then for permits and approvals.

All the fire houses have changed to above ground concrete vault tanks... we had a 1000 gallon underground tank where I worked years ago... when it was time to replace it simply was no longer cost effective...

Good luck trying to get any propane tank over 500 gallons... and now with the new ban on gas... it simply may not even be possible to have any gas in 22 California cities...

I'm thinking the smart money could very well be a trailer mounted Genset with belly tank and a power tap to the home...

Some of the MQ units are darn nice... Kubota powered... lots of them pushed into service with extended run tanks during the PGE power shut offs to power Cell Towers... there was a nice 25 kW unit that I would love to have... way overkill but so quiet and well made...

A friend sells MQ and says they simply cannot keep up... the demand has exploded this year... with some units being months out...

Which means there could be a glut on the used market in a few years???
