Your last generator Maintenance Run

I just wanted some little unit with LED lights that one can plug into an outlet. And that comes on when the power fails. Having Double A cells would even be a bonus, but strangely I have seen nothing like that or even many small EL units on E-Bay.

Thanks. What bothers me, is that those were probably bought from China at a couple of bucks each. I don't mind paying a "little" markup.

On the other side of the coin, these types of things can't be forgotten and expected to work years down the road. It's why mandated ones have to be checked here annually. I have inspected thousands!

then find them on alibaba, and buy direct

Since I maintained the generator properly no power outage. It flickered enough that some clocks were flashing but others were not.

Can always count on Murphy, and his relative - Aunty Murphy !

I've got an old Two Stroke generator I put up years ago afraid if I wasn't around someone would use straight gas. Lightweight little guy

I like the power-density of gas 2 strokes..... it would be nice to see some modern clean-sheet gen designs to choose from.

I never had luck with Alibaba. Thought it was for, if you wanted to buy thousands of something. I never until recently, seeing about it on Youtube, thought it was legit.

That's mostly what Alibaba is for. The ebay-ish onsey twosey version is AliExpress.

Impressive engine, for certain applications... car racing for one. Can't picture it's torque curve exactly, but i strongly suspect it makes many 2-stroke gas engines look like low revvers in comparison ...... probably not practical in a small gen, esp. once $ considered....

Buddy of mine had an RX7, big with that one....

I can't imagine you were the first one to try that :laughing:.

Friend of a friend tried importing a couple of sea-cans worth of PRC "stuff"; ended up losing a fair pile of money. Once all landed fees are paid, then you are left trying to sell/move thousands of low-cost items to customers - selling a couple of things on Ebay et al is one thing (and, many people find that a PITA....), selling tens of thousands of small items..... not what most people want to/can spend their time doing....
