No, the heater was removed from the big genset housing as it was defective. Otherwise, shiny and new, how could I not adopt it? To further clutter up my life!

I KNOW this is a thread about GEN. Sets but I just saw this turn towards heaters..
I just wanna throw my hat in about the DUAL burner propane heaters..the ones that screw into a "grill bottle"..
Harbor Freight has them for 59.99 w/ coupon. Raise the temp 10* in 30 minutes on hi..
Theres a few videos on them on utube.. along w/ a calculation on "run-time".. seems they'll run 18hrs on hi.. Pretty good imo..

All good tpgsc..... as somebody who lives in the frozen north, I never mind hearing about deals on heaters !

That would be a radiant style head.... if it's the size I'm thinking of, 2 burners would throw a lot of heat.

I probably won't make it to HF soon enough, but I'm going to check out their listing for that.

Thanks, I suspect other cold-dwellers will be interested too.....

I have one that I never tried. Also a fan forced one. BBQ propane is just too dear here.

Here, Costco is the best price I've found. Been a while, but I'd say roughly $12 Can. for 20#. I see people pulling in with 100# tanks to fill.

I don't need one at the moment, but a dual fuel gen is really attractive, to get away from gasoline storage issues....

Had the day off, so finally got this run done...... wanted to cross it off the list, b4 the holidaze starts rolling.....

Date: Dec 24/18

Generator:
7kw Briggs

Activity: Ran for a little over 1 hour. Diesel block heater, space heater, floodlights, battery charger @ 2500watts min.

Final Fueling notes: filled w. NonE gas. Stabil360 already in fuel can. Also dosed gen tank with approx. 60ml of Startron (aka Smurf Pee).

Maintenance notes (Done, or Required): Elec start. Started third crank, full choke. Battery measured 12.98v after run was over, before re-connecting float charger. Leg with heater measured 115VAC @ heater. Stopped and did a manual pull start, about 1/2 way through.

Temperature: 0 deg C.

Pic of that Predator gen reminded me of using my little 3kw Predator a few days ago. Gas company out to fix old wall propane heater in garden shed, it was all clogged and rusted, glad I called them first, probably hadn't been turned on in 20 years. 10kw warms up the small building nicely.
But the guy brings along his pancake air compressor to blast junk out and uh, well sir, you beat the electrician here, no juice. Hmmmm. Ok, drag the little Predator about three hundred feet from the barn and use that for juice. Which worked just fine. After pulling six times, it popped, then refused to do anything. Choke, no choke, choke. Finally arm hurt, gas tech said let me try and he pulled about seven times and it finally started.
Sure is no Honda.....................;)

I'm afraid if I ever buy one of these little gens again, it had better have electric start. I have a 9kw Honeywell gen that I loan to a friend, elec start, and boy does that start nicely. E0, 93 octane helps.
I think the smaller they make these carbs, the more problems they have.

btw, Merry Christmas guys. May none of you need to run your gens today....

Good for efficiency, but the small jets have it tough today.... I've seen small engines down with carb problems, after just one season.

In consideration of VOC emissions, modern gasoline may have lower volatility, Ex or not. I consistently treat all small engine gasoline with one or more of Stabil,Seafoam, Startron, and that does (knock wood) seem to save me from serious problems. At least, so far....

When I don't run my gens as often as I should , they do take longer cranks to start, but start they do.

I was going back through this thread yesterday, chasing a particular post. Going past various starting tricks posts reminded me I should pick up a can of Quick Start (ether) to stick on the shelf...... I don't like using it, except as a last resort, but I'd be fine with buying a can and never using it....

Enjoy the holidays....... may your turkeys not need generator assisted power
