Congrats on having the right tool at the right time. Wish we could have an outage.:cool2:

My generator is a military surplus MEP-803A. Rated for 10KW continuous @.8 power factor. Loads vary. I'm showing a little over 15 amp draw on it right now. Yesterday while we were drying clothes and cooking it had 52 amps on L1 and 54 on L2.

I built a resistive load bank that will load it to 13.5K and it runs it without a problem.

Nice unit, and that is an impressive fuel consumption, 43 hours and only 21 gallons.

And I thought diesels were evil ?

;)

Yeah..... about 1/2 gal/hour - with what JD has been running, can't beat that !

Not in my mind :drink:

I have a 25 KW PTO unit, depending on what tractor I put on I will average a bit more then 3/4s of a gallon per hour.
It doesn't matter much what I have for a load on it fuel consumption stays about the same.

My monthly maintenance regimen is paying off now. Generator has been running non-stop since 3PM yesterday and will probably continue for several days if not weeks.

Fitting that it's a Mil unit.... the old saying "The more you train in peace, the less you bleed in war" comes to mind.

For the extended run you have coming up, an under-stressed 1800rpm machine like you have is the cat's PJs, for sure.

Here's hoping that everyone in your area is doing OK, and continues that way....

If you have the #'s handy at the end, please post total hours and total fuel, that would be interesting to see.

Yeah, unfortunately that characteristic of diesels seems to conveniently get left out of the public "green" conversation.

One thing I noticed is that the clocked hours on the meter is 1/2 the actual run time. Don't know what's up with that unless it has something to do with load on the unit.

That is odd.... a lot of the basic hour meters sense vibration. If you had a 3600rpm meter on an 1800rpm unit, that would make sense, but I don't think that's the case for you....

Replacement 3600rpm hour meters should not be expensive, but if it's tracking 1/2 time consistently, I could probably live with that...... I'd add a label, but that's mostly just me sleeping better at night..... :)

Got hold of a Yamaha EF2400iSHC a while back . Changed oil , took covers off too peak inside looks too be well made . My first Yamaha ever . Probably add an hour meter to it . I didnt pay that for mine but these things run a little pricey new at like $1330 and then some starting price . From what I have read you cant "parellel"this model like some Honda"s etc .
No biggie to me never had any intentions too I have larger capacity gennys if more watts needed etc . Some reviews of these units say it has no fuel level indicater mine does along with fuel screen . Use mine to run power corded tools out in field . One pull starts . Also like fuel shut off feature while its running to keep fuel out of carb while sittin . Just a sharein my thoughts on this model .

Nice !

IIRC, someone on TBN (maybe even a ways back in this thread) was using one of those quite a bit on his highway tractor..... all the comforts of home, quietly, on not much fuel

Yamaha is well known for engine tech, you should have great service out of that unit.

There is a tread on here somewhere about gray market generator motors and I can't seem to find it any help ??? What I have is a Yanmar clone 189f motor in my generator that won't stay running. All new filter and fuel lines, I bleed it and all is fine at first then after about 3 sec. it starts stumbling and rpm drops,, like it's running out of fuel??? Any help would be appreciated …
