It would have been a lot to go through had I been awake! Don't remember a thing! L3-5 spinal decompression and fusion.

5 weeks later I'm completely satisfied. 7 more weeks before I can return to work.

What I meant was, was it a fall accident or vertebrae problem like disintegration or disks?
I have a friend who had his lower spine "laminated". He said it's like titanium plates for support.

What really surprises me most, in all the responses to this photo, is no comments on the Millenium Falcon toy! Isn't owning one of those originals like printing your own money, these days?

I suspect I gave that one away to a neighbor kid, or mom sold it at a garage sale for $1, when I outgrew playing with Star Wars toys around age 10.

I have a friend that was looking through stuff in his mom's house. He was in his 40s at the time. He found his Star Trek bridge toy from the 70s. None of the action figures were there. He was bummed. Then he opened the turbo lift door and there was a vintage Klingon in mint condition!

Ahh. No accident. Just disks and vertebrae moving around pinching off my spinal cord. No idea what caused it. The pain started last March.

ZERO!!!

I can walk a couple miles now. Couldn't walk 100' without stopping before. I'm very happy.

I know people much younger than I that have far worse problems with their physical health, so I ain't complaining.

Shoe horns are kinda funny. Came across many of these doing flea market stuff and saw no use to them. Now I understand.....

Doing a start up church. Wife and I are the "old couple" with no kids in the home and everyone else "in the group" has kids from babies to 12 year olds.

Did work this past Saturday building and putting up sound acoustical absorbing wall panels to make the sound better in the auditorium. Volunteer time was 8AM to 10:30AM.

The sound and music guy really underestimated the work and time LOL. Got there at 8, ended up leaving at 2PM. My back was shot, took a hot bath at 3, went to sleep, woke up around 6, at some dinner, went back to sleep at 8, and didn't wake up until 4AM on Sunday, ready for church. My body was shot. I'm glad I'm out of the field, no way my body could take it now 8 hours a day up on a roof or in an attic of crawl space.

My only saving grace was a lot of the 30 year old guys who worked Saturday said they were hurting on Sunday as well.

We had one board to put up on Sunday morning, and I was told I didn't have to help, and I won't lie, wasn't arguing over it.

Wife and I had the two grandkids Fri. through Monday.
Power went out after supper due to winds last night.
I went to bed after stoking the wood stove.
Slept 12 hours....;-)

I must be getting old.

Went with a mechanic friend of mine to put on a pump from a 580c.. just to make sure it was done correctly..
I get to the site and the arms were down..THAT leaves little room..
I haven’t had to twist like that in a long time..
I spent the next 24 hrs on the couch with a bottle of Advil..

I snowshoed over 2 miles yesterday in some of the crappiest snow conditions I've seen in a while; dropping in to my knees with every step.
When I got back out onto the plowed road it was still over a mile back to my truck... I sure was glad when somebody pulled over and offered me a ride.
OTOH I was happy to still be able to do it.

My neighbour is a good guy that drives me crazy trying to get me more involved with projects.
He's almost 20 years younger and still in the accumulation/build mentality. I'm more in the I've got what I need, happy just to maintain.
Tools are on sale, lets go buy them. No thanks, little chance I'll use it and the neighbour has one if I need it.
Come up north to the cottage. Bugs, a strange bed, over eating and drinking don't appeal to me. Talk about the 5 hour drive, 2 hours through Toronto traffic.
We could do this...
No I'm comfortable, I have some property to tinker on.
Get the F--- off my lawn! I'm taking a nap!

I'm in the transition stage where I've accumulated lots of hobbies and projects and have less desire to complete or engage in them than previously, but not ready to let it go...lately fighting the bug to get a small European sports car and stuff a V8 in it.

It's the tip of an iceberg. The car wasn't made for the V8...so really you need a tube frame, then suspension, brakes, transmission, rear end...on & on.
A friend had a Sunbeam Tiger (Get Smart TV show), Ford 260 (they had one with 289). Nice car!

I committed to completing 3 projects this year that I started 3 years ago. There is nothing more permanent than something put in temporary.
