i have graded my yard with a box blade and now i need to rid it of sticks, roots, and rocks. What is recommended? york rake? if so, what size? i have a yanmar 2310D. I have seen attachments that looks like chainlink fence. what do they do? Can someone point me in the right direction?

The chain-link-fence-looking attachement is called a drag harrow around these parts. We actually used an old matress box spring to clean up a shooting range in Albuquerque a couple of years ago.
I think the drag harrow works well for bringing the big stuff up to the surface but to "collect" and "remove" it you would want a yard/rock rake. I don't know the exact terminology and they seem to be used interchangeably so that makes it even harder to nail it down.

If you do decide to go with a yard rake you might want to look into adding a gage wheel to the rear. Again, I've never done it nor used one set up that way but it does make sense to me to do it in some instances. You can control how far down the rake will go, for instance, as the tractor approaches a small bump and the front pitches up, that would drive the rake ino the ground and cause the hill to become even worse. With a gage wheel mounted to the rake it would prevent that. At least that is my uneducated SWAG as to how it would work.

If you get one post back and let us know how it works. I'm in the market for one as well but for driveway edge maintenance. I need to keep the gravel out of the yard, it's tearing up blades on the rear finish mower.

Good luck.

See if you can rent a 3pt Harley rake. They are a stupidly simple, incredibly effective, insainly expensive tool (to own, not rent). One pass and you'll be ready for seed.
