Yanmar YMG 2000D
Hello

I am looking at a YMG2000 that seems to be a great deal. I have been trying to find out more about it. I have been researching Yanmars for a while, but this seems to not be a common model. I am wondering about parts availability. I would appreciate any info or opinions. This tractor has a Koyker loader, so I am hoping it may be a US reconditioned.

Thanks

What part of the country are you in? The VN wholesale importer in Northern California (now closed) used 100% Koyker loaders.

I believe the ymg2000 has the same engine as my ym2002d. 3t80u-nap I would be interested if the one you are looking at has that engine or if the p may be left off the suffix? As far as parts go that is an unsleeved engine and mine has been gone through including a crankshaft. So yes, engine parts are available. I am not knowledgeable about the drive train, just guessing clutch, brakes, bearings, seals, etc. are going to be available also. I'm sure Hoye or other parts vendors could confirm or deny this.

Sort of thinking this model was produced in the late 1980s.

Thanks for your replies. I am in North Arkansas. I have been reading these forums for several months trying to find out more about Yanmars and gray market tractors in general. This tractor is supposedly in excellent condition, having been reconditioned in 2007. From the pictures, it does not have ROPS. It is a three cylinder, four wheel drive, and from the pictures seems to have the rice field tires.

What concerned me is the model, YMG2000. I have seen the more common YM2000 listed, but not this YM "G". Hoye does not seem to list it on their part site, other than an available ROPS kit. At least it is not on their list of models to avoid. Fredricks does list it on their tractor price sheet.

I am mostly concerned with parts availability for this particular model. I am going to look at it this morning. I was just interested to see if anyone knew of any reason to avoid this particular model.

Thanks

If you were to call Fredricks or Hoye, they would tell about the parts support for this mod . Looking through the parts list on Fredricks' site. It looks like it has good support. Gaskets , bearings ,rings etc, what parts were you concerned with ?

I looked at the tractor and it seems in great condition. One thing that seemed strange was that all the labels were in Japanese. Did any of the reconditioners/importers put Japanese labels back on after repainting? I suppose it could have imported in this good condition. It has less than 700 hours showing. It also is a YMG2000, but it is 4 wheel drive. I thought 4wd models ended in "D".

I was just interested in parts availability in general. It seems like that may not be a problem. What is a problems is that it does not have ROPS. With shipping that is almost $780.00.

Thanks for taking time to answer all these questions.

I bought the rops (I believe fredeirck sent for testing)when it came back to fredricks. It was around 800.00. Worth it in my opinion. It was probably bought in good condition. As far as I know they didn't re install the Japanese decals after re furb

"I thought 4 wheel drive models ended with a D."

So did I! Maye the decal has been changed from the original?

If the tractor looks & runs good & good price. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if , the decal were missing the D.Shouldn't be hard to tell if it's 4 wd or 2 wd

Did you happen to get the engine model number? Does it have power steering? I ask because I have never encountered anyone with a 3t80u-nap engine. Only 3t80u-na. Mine has power steering. Just doing a little investigating. Did you happen to notice whether it had wet or dry brakes?

"Did you happen to get the engine model number?"

I bought the tractor yesterday and it will be delivered this morning. I will check the engine model then.

I have been looking for a while and this is by far the nicest Yanmar I have seen for the money. I'm looking forward to getting it here, I have lots of work waiting for it with our new place. It's not my first tractor, but it will be my first Yanmar. I am going to buy the ROPS kit for it. I have some fairly steep property here and I think it will be worth it.

Congradulations! Hoping for some pictures of it. Steep property and ROPS sounds like a good combination.

My tractor doesn't have a "D" either in the decal either.

I think its probably just a supply and demand thing I once thought about having one made but figured I would get sued the way things are going so I will keep it to myself when I do get around to it if ever...

Oh yeah welcome to the Yanmar forum!

"Did you happen to get the engine model number?"

This tractor's engine is a 3T80U-SA.

I used the tractor to move some dirt and rocks today and I am impressed. It's amazing how much this little tractor will move. So far, I have not found anything on it that does not work. The lights, turn signals, fuel, and temp gauges all work. This little tractor seems to have been taken care of. I've only been a Yanmar owner for one day, but I like it.

Wet or dry brakes? Power steering? Nosy, aren't I? Curious as I can be what the difference in our suffix letters of SA and NAP. Doubt I'll ever find the answer. Sounds like you got a good one. Congratulations.

"Wet or dry brakes?" Not sure. It has better brakes than any of my previous tractors, but that's all I know. I don't know how to tell the difference.

"Power steering?" No

I have owned several tractors, both high and low hours. I don't think it has been "re-conditioned" because all the labels and decals are in Japanese. I would be surprised if the people who recondition them had access to replacement Yanmar factory labels in Japanese. It does have the wear and tear I would expect of a tractor that had been used for years, but well maintained and kept out of the weather.

Whatever it's history, I am well pleased with it. I think I got it at a very fair price, and it should last me for a long time. Tomorrow I am going to order an operator's manual and a parts manual, along with an over-running clutch and an $800 ROPS system. I plan to keep it for a long time.

I know it doesn't really make any difference to you but I am just trying to improve my vast base of knowledge. :D If it has wet brakes it would look like this picture where the brake rod goes into the brake housing at the black boot . If it has drum brakes it would look like this parts drawing of a 2000. That is, the brake rod would hook on a lever (#9) on the side of the brake drum. Yanmar Tractor Parts: BRAKES I hope I am not to much out of line here with your thread. You have have a little bit of a unique tractor in the ymg2000 and I just enjoy learning more about it. :licking:

Yeah it sure sounds like he got a nice one and being a 3 cyl 4wd 2000 that is unusual! It will last a lifetime especially if he treats it as good as the previous owner(s) did.
