Which one gives the operator, 6 foot 1 inch, size 12 shoes, and 71 years old, the most room for getting on and off, and just plain operating? The YM2010-20. or the FX20D? And of course that would be with a fel also.

The F20 has an open platform for your legs & plenty of room
the 2010 has a shifter between your legs you have to step over to get on & off.
The f20 has my vote for a guy your size.

Ernie knows more about this than I do but I can comment on the F series.

While what Ernie say is true about the open platform, the operator area is fairly compact with the seat recessed inbetween the fenders.

I'm 5'8" 230# and I find much of the time while I'm getting on, I rub against the turn signal lever and trip it. One also needs to plan on how to get off due to the close coupling. It can get a little difficult if one doesn't. I find that moving my left foot as far left as I can just before standing up, there is enough room on the left foot rest so my right foot has a place to rest as I start to climb off.

It would be nice if there ws more room but this is a compact model.

Oh, both my boys can get on /of without too much difficulty and certainly operate the tractor without difficulty. Both are taller and heavier than I

I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this, but I have had several different sized FX tractors and they are better than the YM series. However, I personally have went to the Iseki TA series. The tilt wheel gets out of your way and the platform is somewhat larger than the FX. I just sold a TA 270 to a gentleman that had had a stroke. One leg was sluggish and one arm. He could get up and down off of the TA. The shuttle on the Iseki isn't as easy as the FX shift but it is still a shuttle. This is just food for thought not trying to start anything.

I have a Fx20d, and I am 6'1" and 245# I don't have any trouble getting on or off my. I also have a FEL on my, I just bought a Quick disconnect for the 3 point.....this has saved many trips on and off the tractor. The best $100 I have spent in a long time...well since I put $100 down to hold my Fx20d.
Good Luck!

I'm 6'3", 235 lbs, size 13. Plenty of room to get on, off, and operate my F15D.

The FX tractors I have seen have much better access. What kept me away from them is the parts problem. I also hear that getting parts for them is much harder than the YM series. This would be a aspect of purchase that might overide the access issue long term. I'd invite the dealers here to comment on this aspect. That is what drove me away from a otherwise great tractor when I was buying. Things could have changed in the last couple of years.

Chris,

I gather that the F (and FX) series tractors popularity will steadily gain momentum and so will their parts availability. It is much easier to obtain parts for them now as compared to 2 years ago. The YM series tractors are still very popular here, but we will see less and less imported as availability decreases in Japan. Hopefully, parts won't be a problem for either series in the decades to come.

Of course anything can happen, but from the experience I've had with my YM1700, its so seldom one needs parts, it not much to worry about. I'm sure the small parts, that one may need, wouldn't be hard to get. We have some dealers on here that can get most anything we would need. And I don't know, but probably some of the parts for the YM's would fit the F and FX's. The are still Yanmar, and probably use some of the same parts. But they all seem to be pretty well built.
