Ym2000 Steering Wheel Removal

Can anyone tell me how to replace the steering wheel? I have removed the steering wheel cap, removed the nut. Seems like the steering wheel should pull off but it will not budge. Am I missing a step?

Yep, you're missing the wheel puller. Any autoparts store, Home Depot, Lowes, hardware store should have something suitable.

I spray PB Blaster on the shaft and let it set for a while. Put the nut back on until it is flush with the end of the shaft. Have a friend pull up on the wheel and take a SOFT hammer and tap the nut. Repeat the whole process until it pops up. Or get a puller.

Yup, leave the nut on loosely to keep the steering wheel from flying off and hitting something when it breaks loose.

The nut also protects hollow shafts from deforming. Some slide a bolt down the shaft and center the puller on it.. etc.
