YM1700 transmission

I feel like an idiot asking this question... Is the transmission on a YM1700 a sealed unit or is there a way to check and add fluid? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There's a dipstick just behind, and to the left of, the 4-speed shift lever.

Oh, I thought that dipstick was for the hydro fluid. How many dipsticks are on the tractor? 2 or 3?

That dipstick is for both. The hydraulic fluid is used as the transimission lubricant. That is why you are supposed to use "universal hy-trans" or hydraulic/transmission fluid in the transmission.
