OK I finally put a water gauge on. The temp stayed between 190 and 210.
Most of the time while working it the temp was closer to the 210 mark.
Does this sound OK?

I cleaned the radiator and screen. Have not had it cleaned professionaly and have not changed the antifreeze to make sure it has proper mixture.

Reading this forum most say to run 70/30 mixture.
My manual says to use a 40% antifreeze/water mixture.

Am I running too hot?
What is the max temp before i should be really concerned?

Thanks

I love my Yamar!

The answer is the YM1700 temp sending unit is set to come on at about 248 degrees.

30% antifreeze, 70% water.

That sounds a little high to me. Mine (1700 no water pump) runs no more than 160 even when it is 95 degrees outside. However, I had the radiator rodded and clean by a radiator shop, flushed the block, and use the 70% water to 30% antifreeze mix as well.

Get your radiator rodded out...........I bet that fixes it............. You can add a YM2000 water pump to it also...........I think Danny Parker and/or Hoye Tractor has the kits..............Getting the radiator rodded out will more than likely fix it, but I'd put the water pump too just for more peace of mind for myself, personally.

Yep, Travis' YM2000 was running 190 to 210 with a 6' finish mower until rodded and now it's 160.

OK Thanks all.
I'll get the radiator checked out.
Sounds easy enough.
