Yet another boom pole...

I bought the trailer mover from ebay and made my own boom pole. Welding is a new skill, so this is much more complex than it needed to be so I could get some practice. I took 2" square .25 wall stock and gussetted the end to turn it into a 1.25 x 2" box. Then I cut a 7/8 hole and use a huge clevis pin as a lift point.

It will be used to help transplant trees. Land-rescaping will be the project for the summer. We have 30 or so mature shrubs and ornamental trees that we are going to move.

The attached picture shows the end detail.

Clever clevis. I'd consider something to make it "triangular". Mebbe a chain from the tip of the boom to the top clevis on the hitch with a HD turnbuckle to make it good and snug. I have a habit of grabbing larger stuff than I should, resulting in occasionally raising the front of the tractor. That's an awful lot of stress on the tube stock at the point near where it slides into the receiver...........chim

well i dont know how much trust i would put in those welds, they seem to have been done with a homowner type mig, not much penetration it looks like. also for that size tractor ya aint gona be able to lift much since its so far out the back, ya will need alot of front weight on it for sure
