Yellow Hill

Last spring our hill was mostly yellow with dying vegetation from the drought. This year we have had plenty of rain and the flowers show it.

The flowers are Plains Coreopsis.

Ah, yes, rain is good, flowers are pretty, pollen is...for some, a problem. My wife has allergies. She takes meds, and it helps some, but even she will take a view like that over a few sneezes.

That's a really loaded hillside, Don. Our bluebonnets were really nice this year and now that same area is covered in thelesperma -- yellow also, but not as thick as yours.

This has also been a great year up here for foxglove and indian blanket. Now, purple coneflowers are starting to appear everywhere. I'm not allowed to mow until the middle of next month.

Jim, I haven't mowed the field since 2005. I think I'll get to mow in August if it's not too hot.

Yes Scott they do look kind of alike. We have both but on this sand land. The Blackeyed Susans seem to like it near the wooded areas.
