I have looked all over the rims and found only one number (7-2) on the alternator side front rim. Does this mean Febuary 1977?

The thing to remember is that there is a very slim chance that the wheels on your tractor are the ones that came on it from the factory. When the grey market tractors are imported to the U.S. the wheels are removed and stacked in the rear of the shipping container. If the importer is busy and getting a container a week and has a stockpile of wheels chances are they just pull a set of 1700 wheels from the pile.

From looking at Brent's photo in the post titled "Welcome to Yan-Mart", it appears highly unlikely that any gray Yanmar would have the original wheels.

Late 70's is a close guess.

And the others are correct about the wheels.. my 1700 has two different front wheels...
