yanmar tractor 1700

I have a yanmar 1700 diesel tractor. I was running low on hydraulic fluid. I place in 1qt of dextron 3 because i use it in my hydraulics on my wood splitter. I was pulling dirt with my box blade for about 2 hours. All of a sudden, I raised the box blade and it hung in the up position. Also when i went to let out on the clutch and the tractor wanted to bog down and shut off. Please HELP!

Your tractor doesn't use hydraulic fluid. It uses universal tractor hydraulic/transmission fluid, or hytrans. Sincerely, if you think someone can diagnose the problem based on the information you've given, you really need to get the tractor to a good mechanic or a dealer before you multiply the problem.

A tractor mechanic may be in order, but you may also want to first check the implemement (3-point) lock, which may be a knobby turnwheel under the seat (in many YM models.)

In my limited experience, the symptoms you describe are not consistent with adding HydTrans (JD303 or Eq.) fluid, or ATF, for that matter, to the system. There's something else going on. Like Wayne says, you need more information to present. The two problems may nor may not be related.

Note that the hydraulic system is not interfaced to the clutch on the YM models AFAIK, as it runs directly off the engine on most models.

Some times on the 1700 the three point lift will stick . Just push it back in Number 17.

The dextron 3 is not the problem. My first thought is that pin in the end of the lift cylinder broke. This can cause the 3 point to not drop. But that doesn't explain the "bog down and shut off" situation, unless something feel in some gears.
