anyone have any recent info on deals for Yanmar ROPS? Ever once in a while, a dealer will come up with a special price on these items. Just checking. thanks to all.

The margin on the aftermarket OSHA approved ROPS most of us carry is thin. You're not likely to see anyone run specials on an item with nominal markup. Perhaps if you have a sizeable parts order from someone you can negotiate a discount on a ROPS, but candidly, even if you bought $1,000 worth of parts from us the best we could do is around $60 off the ROPS. That leaves me with the question...if you accept the need for the ROPS isn't it worth your life to buy it anyway?

I don't believe OEM Yanmar dealers have had access to ROPS for the domestically sold models for quite a few years now.

very well put. Its like when I go buy brakes for my car, the guys at the auto parts store look at me funny when I say I want the most expensive best brakes they make. If may car stops three inches faster it may save me from wrecking my car, I drive 70,000 per year. I say get a ROPS at any price. Your wife can negotiate 100.00 off from the furneral parlor when you die of old age anyway. So get a ROPS and live to be 105!!!:D:D

ditto to all of the comments. It's well worth the price. And try and buy from our Yanmar friends. LMTC, Ernies, Hoye, Fredricks, etc. I might save a buck or two on something, but two or three years from now when I need a part only they would have they may not be in business because of the lack of support from the Yanmar community. I bought my ROPS from Fredricks.

We have now completed our 15th year, which makes us one of the 2-3 oldest continuous dealers in this market. I'm allowing for 1-2 I may not be aware of. I know of one who was in this market before us, left it for many years, and recently re-entered this market. Other than that dealer, I really don't know anyone else currently selling Yanmar who was selling the greys in the early-mid-90s and has continued to do so without interruption. There are a few bigger than us, but we may now be the greyest of the grey:rolleyes:

Grayest of gray? Well the years of experience, references, photos, and TBN posts sure helped me make my decision to buy a gray from LMTC easier. Very many thanks to all the above involved, my yanmar is still doing well almost three years after the big purchase and the ROPS was included.

Yes....most of the early traffic here came from there. More people said "Yamaha" than "Yanmar". The name had virtually no recognition in this region until sometime after 2000 or so.

I wonder if the OP already found one.

What has been your experience dealing with LCI? A few posters got parts they needed; others said LCI advertises a long list of parts but in reality doesn't have much when you email them. Anybody know?

When I was at Fredricks yesterday.I saw how much more he as added to his inventory since I bought my tractor in 05. There would be no need for me to get parts anywhere else. He has had parts re- cast that you wouldn't think you would still be able to get for these tractors

Lci is struggling. 3 years ago they had 40+ tractors on their lot. Now they have very few and fewer empoyees. They now go by East Texas Imports. They do still sell parts but not sure they have an online outlet at this time. Won't make any other comments.

Funny thing about ROPS is I can't drive on flat ground now without the ROPS up and to think I was debating not to purchase them a year ago.

That is an amazing business. He apparently went to the original US provider of ROPS for the US Yanmars and contracted them to design, test, and build the ROPS he sells (and provides to other dealers).

Likewise when I recently searched online for steering-box bearings (must be an odd dimension?) there were none in the US or anywhere aside from the Yanmar-replica parts channel. Early Datsun used the same steering box internals but forums discussing that said rebuild parts hadn't been available for years. Then on Alibaba I found several manufacturers in Asia showing this bearing on their list of bearings they will manufacture to order, minimum 1,000. Fredricks must have many contracts like this for making NLA parts. Like early VW and Jeep, replica parts for Yanmars will be around for a long time.

Just curious, why do you say you "can't drive on flat ground now without the ROPS"?

Not sure who he contracts for the ROPS. I never asked him. I know that Tom was an engeneer I believe NASA or a conctor for NASA in Huntsville AL. when he got into importing Yanmar tractors. He has just about any part you would need for a yanmar. My original plastic dash is cracked on my tractor. If I ever need to replace it, Tom has them in stock. new tires as well. I think most of the other dealers get most if not all of their parts from him. Can't wait to get my tractor back with that loader he is going to install. I've wanted a loader for some time

I don't have time to look it up but the mfr is named in the ROPS manual (pdf) you can download off his website. Going to that manufacturer's website, they design and build ROPS for a large variety of US-brand equipment.

NASA engineer? No wonder he's doing it right.
