The first one was repainted yellow years back, you can see paint like the second one in spots where the yellow was scraped etc.

Agree. This is the larger of two models. I think the little one is smaller than a WWII Jeep.

Yanmar also makes a similar version on tires. As I recall, four per side. It wouldn't have the flotation on soft ground like these but it might be a better choice for mining etc where the surface is firm.

These fascinate me but I can't think of a practical use for it.

I thought of 2 good reasons to use it. When I first seen it I was so interested I was zooming in on the Pics. Wow!!

I'd use the snot out of it in the timber when conditions are soft. I get impatient during wet years and end up in the timber with the tractors. Leave some pretty nasty ruts that I later have to repair. This would be perfect for those conditions. I maintain a LOT of 4 wheeling trails thru steep timber.
