Here is a rather simple question?

Where is the alternator located on a ym1500?

The battery is not charging, but I can not seem to find the alternator.

(it may not have one!?!?!?)

I bought this used, and have changed MANY alternators on many things. I am thinking that this tractor simply is missing the alternator.

Could someone take a picture of their ym1500's alternator and post it for me. Thanks in advance.

BTW I have looked at manuals, and parts diagrams on the web - still can not pinpoint the exact location.

I feel like a rock head even asking this question!

I think on that model it's a little pancake unit inside the fan hub. Somebody posted recently about repairing one, so I suggest search for that thread.

That makes sense. The parts diagram seemed to show a part that would fit there.

Thanks.

It is behind the fan. In the same position a water pump would be on an auto.

The alternator is so small I first thought it was a large bearing assembly for the fan.

As California advised, search for threads on YM1500 alternator, dynamo, regulator, etc. You should find a large amount of prior advice on the alternator on a YM1500.

If you still need the picture(I think the prior threads have several pictures), I will take one of my YM1500's alternator and post it.

By the way, welcome.
