Using a skid steer pallet fork (no bucket) and wood pallet I was only able to lift ~31 bags of pool salt (40 lbs each) ~6 inches off the ground. Loader pressures etc. have been checked by dealer. Looks like ~1500 lbs (salt + pallet forks) is what the LS xr4040h will do in a real world test. Would like comments from LS.

The 31 bags X 40# = 1240lbs. leaving only 260 lbs for the forks and pallet. I think the forks and pallet weigh a little more than that.
XR4040 lift cap is 2500 at the pins. Even if your forks and pallet weighed 500 lbs. that's still only 1740 lb. which it should lift with ease.
I'd have the dealer double check the pressure relief setting. Seems low to me.

Did you tilt the load back over the pins?

Definitely check the relief setting..

ALL settings checked twice by dealer. pallet and salt was as far back toward the tractor on forks as they can go.

Per LS today, 1500 is what to expect. Buyer Beware.

How often does one lift at the pivot pin, the load is always out in front of the pins and rarely tilted back over the pins, especially when using forks. About the only time the load would be over the pins is during loader work when you tilt back the bucket.
All Tractor manufacturers should publish real world lift capacities and not just lift capacities at the pins. It's misleading to the consumer.

LS is no worse than any other manufacturer concerning advertised loader lift capacity. Everyone lists at the pin. This is a value that can be compared to others.

Some manufacturers go further in their literature and provide lift capacities at various lengths from the pin. Those that I have seen show a significant drop off in weight the further out you get (dang physics!). I also feel that published lift capacities at various distances from the pin cannot be compared from one to another manufacturer because you don't know if the test procedures are the same.

Misleading? Possibly. Buyer beware, I don't agree.

My XR3037 picked up the corner of the old house when I was trying to move dirt from the foundation for demolition. Don't know how much that weighs but pretty sure LS didn't factor that in......I sort of wished I had a grapple to put in the 3 dumpsters, but the 5 guys from in front of the Home Depot did a fine job of that.

At one point I was just putting the bucket chest high and plowing into the frame till stuff bounced off the glass. I kinda liked it.

The HD guys turned out to be a really good group, we cooked out and they taught me a few things about grilling!

In my opinion, the tractor I had from 1992 to 2014 (Kubota l4310 hst) with loader (1500 lbs at the pin) was stronger then the xr4040h loader which is rated at 2500 lb at the pin. I expected more capability based on the spec #'s.

I lifted much more than that With my R4047 & forks. I believe it was 51 40lb bags of salt, up to about 4 ft high. Another member just did a pallet fork test also and his was also higher.

Either your math (or weight info) is wrong, or something is wrong with the loader.
