X748 Lub help plZ!

I have a 2011 748 with 54c deck. I am attempting to grease the tractor and deck per manal. I am using a Lincoln 1162 penumatic gun. I have been able to grease the entire tractor and deck without a hitch EXCEPT I cant get the Ujoints on the mower, front or back to take grease. I pulled them out and they are working fine. The shaft has 1 zerk and each universal has one. The shaft zerk takes grease fine but neither Ujoint will. I took the zerks out of ujoint and the threading is different that the shaft one. The shaft one will not screw into the Ujoint ones. It appears that the threading is different. John Deere dealer says they are all the same but they are not. The Ujoint zerks appears a tad smaller, and as such the grease goes out the side. Ideas on this?? Anyone had this issue and how did you correct it?? I have a 3520 also that has not problems with grease fittings. Thanks! RAC

Unhook the shift and turn the u joints 90 degrees and hold the grease gun really tight on them. Also if it is new chi Pl the paint of the too of them.

Oh and try a regular grease gun

I always use a needle grease gun the u-joints on my X748 drive shaft, Deck shaft greases fine on mine with a regular grease gun.

Thanks arlen thats the answer I was looking for. I ordered a grease needle for the Lincoln gun today! RAC

I use a standard grease fitting on my manual grease gun and have no problems. They are not easy to get at. I put a headlamp on my head to light the way and that helps a lot.
