X320 Chute Removal?

Just traded the LT155 on an X320. The 320 has the 48" deck with dealer installed mulch kit. The chute really serves no purpose other than getting in the way, with the mulch kit installed.. so I want to remove it.

It looks like the two screws that hold the chute / hinge assembly are sandwiched between the deck and the plastic mulch baffle. Do I need to drop down the baffle or is there an easier way to remove the chute assembly?

Might be easier to remove the hinge pin. Is that feasable?

Just need to get a socket on the two 13mm nuts to drop the hinge bracket. Is that covered above with part of the mulch kit?

Yes, that looks like the problem. The mulch kit covers the heads of the two screws. I guess I can just remove the pin /chute / spring and leave the bracket in place.

Heh.. turns out they were carriage bolts, so the chute came off easy enough. Just realized I put this in the wrong forum.. :ashamed:

Glad you got it off.
That is the first thing that comes off my decks.
Distributes the grass better and can mow closer on that side.

And the risk is known, that objects can fly.

I really don't think stuff can fly much with the mulch kit in place. Now someone has to come up with a plate to finish off that side of the deck. Looks stupid with that black plastic mulching baffle there. Maybe I'll get around to making a plate...
